I accidentally came across this on tv never heard about Steve Pemberton we watched it was very sad but also very inspiring true story I would be curious to hear reviews from anyone who's read the book (which I want to now) how accurate the movie is.
I liked this movie.
I am a fan of movies based on true stories. This was a sad film but that is a part of like. There was some good acting, the young man who played the lead did a great job.
It is a simple story about a young man's life.
I only watched this because Tom Sizemore is in it.
I loved everything about this movie, the story, the acting, the script writing was brilliantly done.
The main character is being severely abused by his foster family and is being coerced that there is nothing wrong at home. Everytime he went to see his teacher (played by Tom Sizemore) I kept yelling at the tv to get the kid to speak to him about the abuse at home that his foster mother and brother were dumping on him.
I find it really sad that this kid is living in a broken home where he doesn't belong. It made me so happy that he got out of there and was rescued by the department of family services and his teacher.
Well done to everyone that made this movie. A very touching tale on what the broken Foster Care System looks like in America.

I am a published author of true-to-life stories. I did not know originally that this movie was based on a truly story. It was masterfully written and the young man that played his part did a great job! I experienced living in shelters and foster homes during my teen years and I can relate well. I appreciate that he and his wife started a foundation and is still encouraging those who have b been made to feel less worthy and unwanted. I say to those, that for every negative word that has been spoken to you take the Thesaurus and look up the antonyms for it and prove to them and yourself that you are greater! Know that God does not see you as man sees you. God looks at the heart of man and not the outer coat.
