Better than 300! Almost.

I must say I finding lately that the best non-Hollywood movies are Russian and this is no exception. After trying to invade the young mongol emperor commanding the army of the Great Khan a small band of Russian fighters stand between them and the major cities of Russia. Excellent fight scenes, realistic commentary and great visuals makes this film a must for fans of big battles.

The plot is based on the tale of "the Destruction of Riazan", a medieval military story about the capture of the city of Ryazan by the Mongols in 1237 and is one of the best sources of the Mongol invasion of Russia. The movie takes place during the period when Russia was under control of the Golden Horde. Ryazan knight Evpaty Kolovrat is the leader of the squad, which decides to fight back against Mongol khan Batu, who has divided Russia.
