Picked this up for $1 at Dollar Tree. I'm glad I didn't spend more.
First off, it is extremely confusing to have a plot synopsis in the first 3 minutes of the movie, one that contains entire scenes not found in the subsequent film. The trailer also shows scenes that seem to lead up to the start of the Dystopia I watched. So we come in about halfway through the action? Characters are dropped in with no explanation, the main characters already know them and have a history with them. Their motivations are not always clear other than they need to eliminate the entity known as "Biocorp."
Acting is either amateurish or hammy, a few of the actors reach grade-B status, including Michael Madsen as someone who seems to be the President of the USA. Again, the backstory is missing here.
Was this a sequel to a movie that never got released, or an edited version of a much longer film? The trailer would seem to suggest there was another film that explains all.
Edit: skip the low budget movie, the tv series is better. Music is added, the story is coherent and fills the gaps that miss in the movie. I think the actors pour their hearts out in this job, which makes it an entertaining tv show. Especially when you love timetravel plots and dystopia stories. It's not Hollywood, but the budget is good enough to make a descent and thrilling tv series.
The story line is great, has potential, but sadly it's skipping the good parts, bad acting, filming and no background music. I don't recommend this movie. It's rushed and has to many jumps in the storyline. Skips over the cool storylines. The camera work isn't great, neither is the quality. It's so sad, because of the potential of this movie. Maybe with a better movie budget it could have been an awesome movie. It feels like you fall into a story and its a bit confusong who who is and what their role is in everthing. Subtitles aren't great either. Watch this movie if you appreciate the attempt they're trying to do.

Just one pathetic scene was all it took for me to think:
"I'd better check the rating on IMDB in case I'm just wasting my time hoping that this will get better".
Ha ha ha ha. Rating of 2.2!
And it didn't get any better.
So only about 10 minutes wasted. Thanks IMDB reviewers.

'Mad World' drew me into seeing it, with a cool poster/cover, an intriguing if not particularly original premise and as someone with a general appreciation for the genre. That it was low-budget, which from frequent personal experience is rarely a good sign due to that there are so many poor ones out there, made me though apprehensive as well as the low rating and poor reviews.
It is sadly however yet another film seen recently, hence some reiteration because the exact same strengths and flaws those films have are present here, that to me was incredibly disappointing considering its potential which it doesn't do anywhere near enough with. 'Mad World' is yet another terrible film, with a plethora of problems (huge ones too). There is nothing to recommend here, no redeeming qualities at all.
The acting all round is pretty diabolical, exceptions are none, with a bad mix of hamminess and phoning in.
Visually, 'Mad World' looks drab and far from slick, with a cheap, limited set that completely fails to show any sense of claustrophobia or tension, drab photography and not always cohesive editing. The dialogue is from the very start to the silly and anti-climactic finish has no natural flow and makes one cringe. The ending doesn't feel like one at all, it feels unresolved, abrupt and incomplete.
Characters have minimal at best development and are either bland, ridiculously annoying or both with some illogical decision making. The story is dull, never coming to life, dreary in atmosphere with no tension or suspense at all and fails to make sense too often. The direction is as flat as a pancake and what should have been intriguing was instead ridiculous and barely plausible.
Overall, terrible. 1/10 Bethany Cox

Bad from the beginning to the end. Very low budget. I love movies and some of my favorite ones are the small movies from redbox, but this movie was very bad. Do not be fooled by the cover.
