    Wannabe "Stepmother".

" The other mother" tells the tale of a recently divorced man's relationship with a new trophy wife and the secret she is hiding. A large part of the story is how the stepmother manipulates to have the husband and stepdaughter to herself and tries to break the bond between the real mother and daughter / husband. The main flaw with the film is the motive / secret behind the stepmother is not really fleshed out properly or examined. ( unlike the stepfather 1987) you actually don't even realise the motivations till quite late. On a positive- the first half delivers a fair amount of tension -and not knowing the stepmothers game makes it curious. Ultimately it falls short and there is a derivative ending. The acting is ok and for a b grade LMN type movie it's not the worst of its kind. The daughter ( Kennedy) is possibly the most promising performance.

    Typical Lifetime nonsense

What's with these disrespectful teenagers??? As a Baby Boomer this type of disrespect would have you picking up teeth off the ground, and especially if this is coming from one trip with your father and his new bride.

This movie went totally overboard in the ridiculous department, especially with the antics of the daughter which were entirely out of nature for a child to just hate her mother after being with a retarded step-mother for only three weeks.

I could not suspend my reality meter to that degree of idiocy to continue to watch this complete and utter garbage of a movie. And I choose this one for my mother who is a lifetime movie watcher amongst other shows on the boob-tube.

    • Trivia
As of the April 2017 airdate, the ages of three main actors were as follows: Annie Wersching (Jackie) had turned 40 in March. Kimberley Crossman (Tiffany) was 26. Tyler Christopher (Mitch) was 44.

If the characters were those same ages, Mitch was old enough to be Tiffany's father. It was additionally stated that daughter Brooke was 16, about to turn 17, which would make an approximate 9-year gap between her and Tiffany.
    • Goofs
Tiffany consumed brewer's yeast to lessen the effects of the wine. In a July 2014 study by National Public Radio, brewer's yeast had no tangible effect upon the blood alcohol content of the test subjects beyond that of ordinary food. It was classified as an urban legend.
