O, more, more!

This short animation follows a young couple on vacation at the beach. They are soon separated as they begin to be transported to a variety of strange locations. The purpose is to place the characters amongst different (Soviet) pop culture iconography (blue jeans, etc.) to parody both Western culture and Soviet youth's obsession with it. At times, this is quite biting (students proudly parading in 'Kent State' t-shirts), but mostly it's pretty tame.

The film moves quickly in a borderline montage style. The animation mixes cut-outs with live action (the two main characters are actual actors), to interesting effect. Visually, this feels like an experimental student film, but in 1983, it was probably a very technical challenging production.

Plenty to keep the viewer interested, but definitely one to see in the context of the time and place it came from.
