Is it me or the acting are really really bad?
Delivery of lines are overly done especially the mother.

Just shows what can be done on a limited budget. Probably not the best film I have ever seen but have to give it a 10 for the low budget and the sterling effort from the cast. The kids were great and the adults outstanding. A bungling crook and magical skulls. A great success
I thoroughly enjoyed this film set in the New Forest in Southern England. An interesting story line with a great twist and some excellent comic performances from the actors. They say never work with children and animals but the kids in the film were superb!
Great family fun - I especially liked the car chase scene where everyone seemed to stick to the speed limit! :)

I cannot believe the 10/10 reviews saying kids loved this. I watched a show like this back in 1980 that was Canadian low budget called Read All About It, and that was better than this. If this was a high school project, then right on. If it was anything else, then it was ultra amateur, at best.
I really couldn't sit all the way through this film. The dialogue delivery was deadpan, or inappropriate. Too many close shots and you quickly realized that the sets were cheap, and poorly constructed. Bouncing from one setting to another to keep costs down just ruined any continuity.
The sand where the skull was buried, while in a desert with compacted arid soil, was moist, highly silicate and grainy, and exceptionally loose. One poor camera angle after another with tight shots meant the conceal the cheapness of the setting, and locations killed any sense that location could have lent drama to the story.
Stilted acting, lame dialogue, kids, and family that had no emotional context relating to the their dear grans death was another death knell.
The story started with pretty much no story background to establish characters, or anything else. I can't imagine what kind of story boarding went into creating this mess.
Is it meant to be a mystical movie, a family film, an adventure, or was it intended to be the mess it is. Lately There have been so many poor quality projects, this is yet another. I like B movies which manage to amuse us, even when unintentional. Sadly this is not amongst them.
