Mock and Roll

Mockumentaries are easily botched, as those lads from Best In Show and Spinal Tap set such a high bar. But this one knows what it wants to be and really does nail the vision.

The people making this film knew they had to hit on all cylinders, and they did: The actors are clearly reveling in their roles, and it brings a heightened absurdity to things that fits a film in this genre like a glove. The music is spot-on and as convincing as a rock film, by its very definition, requires. And the writing really is clever: It takes a lot of intelligence to do this kind of schtick at an elite level.

I gotta say, with a bit of guilty pleasure, I absolutely loved it. Tune in, turn on, rock out!
