    decent

A decent short story reminding the tension before exams/ auditions/ interview . Well crafted, it is one of blank films. Not exceptional, not bad , only obvious correct. A young cellist at audition , desiring convincing , again and again, with worse results, the members of comission, about her talent. Falling but, after new call, triying again. The bad aspect - you feel nothing about young woman, no compassion, no pity, no admiration. And the basic gift is to remind simmilar episodes from your past. Is it enough ? Not so sure.

    Interesting but only that

A cellist rushes to an audition, and the disaster that follows is interspersed with her on her phone in between attempts.

I came to this film off a very high recommendation by a short film writer that I really respect, so I was a bit surprised by how little it did for me compared to what I expected. This was perhaps me thinking "film of the year" would bring more to the table, but it was not all me expecting too much. To be fair, the film is pretty decent in the way it structures across the audition, and the way it mixes the two elements. The slightly comedic elements weren't that funny, and the dialogue scenes were not that revealing - although they were interesting. We are not shown the other side of the phone conversations, but personally I wonder if there was ever anyone on the other end anyway.

The lead performance is good, and the film does benefit a lot from that, but it was not a story/character/situation that I connected with, and it left me watching a bit passively - with only some passing thoughts and an appreciation for Pienta, that kept me interested.
