This great true story is well acted especially by Robert Patrick. I dont think i have ever seen him not acting well. Give it a watch. Parts are hard to watch.
I was vaguely familiar with the story of Gary Tison, a convicted murder who escaped from prison in Arizona and, along with a fellow escapee and his three sons, murdered several people in an attempt toe scape across the Mexican border. But I'm only vaguely familiar with Tison's story so I can't say too much about the historical accuracy of the film. (Based on some quick reading the story seems accurate enough.) As for the film itself, though, it was a decent enough story, but strangely lacking in depth or even sustained suspense. Tyson was well played by Robert Patrick, but to be honest no one e4lse in the cast really stood out to me. They were competent enough - no disastrous performances, but nothing spectacular either. The depiction of the prison escape seemed just too easy to me, and beyond that, aside from the murders of the two families they encountered, much of the movie seemed a bit dry to me. I was especially curious about why the writers felt the need to place so much emphasis on the relationship between Tison's wife Dorothy and the local young newspaper reporter. It didn't really add either depth or substance to the movie.
I'd call this a time waster. I understand there was another movie made about this incident with a higher profile cast that I may choose to check out at some point. This one gets 5/10.

The story is outdated one and the ending is easily predictable. As this is low budget movie, U can see very few action or shooting scene. It looks like TV Drama and one time watchable.
One would expect someone: director, costume dept, anyone, would had least made a reasonable effort to get the facts near accurate. The Arizona DPS patches worn by the Arizona Highway Patrol (AHP)did not exist, neither did DPS. It was called the Arizona Highway Patrol. They wore Smokey Bear hats, not cowboy hats. Why is the "Sheriff" wearing the uniform of the AHP? Either he's a county sheriff (Pinal County) or a AHP ranking officer.
Why is everyone talking like they are from Alabama? Arizonans speak w/o any accents, I ought to know, live there for 50 years now.
Gary Tyson was a fat slob, not lean and trim like Patrick. And there are plenty of cacti near Casa Grande (for those who say only in Tucson). Everyone of his sons were sociopaths. Don't buy into the" innocent boys" line.

I like how it sticks to the source material, but because as is... it may not be as action packed as blockbuster. I think it is more like a documentary if anything. So... it is what it is, a bit boring, but interesting to learn history.

- TriviaThe original score for the film was written in part by Richard Patrick of the band Filter. Richard is the younger brother of the movie's star Robert Patrick.
- GoofsPeople living in Arizona in the 1970s did not speak with the southern accents as portrayed in this film. So almost all the accents were inaccurate. Further, state policemen did not wear cowboy hats. (If you notice there were no cowboy hats actual pictures at the end).
