When half of country live like this Lyokha and Shtur, don't see anything funny here. That is a disaster. Shoul've called it documentray really.
In Russia, it is difficult to make a decent movie. Few good actors, even fewer good directors. Therefore, one of not many genres that may surprise this arthouse. And this film clearly demonstrates this. A real road adventure of a criminal and a typical representative of a bull. Of course, this is an outstanding film, much has been done in it with satire on what is happening. Serebryanikov played his role perfectly. It is definitely worth looking at.
A good russian cinema. Dark and hopeless, as usual. Fun, at the same time. Worth to see once.
I heard about the film only good reviews but hesitated to watch it mostly because of the strange and suspiciously simple title. Boy had I watched it earlier. Brilliant directing and acting, interesting plot, grim and depressing criminal environment leaves room for true bravery, bonding and in the end - hope.
Humour and crime are intertwined with beautiful views of classic Russian landscapes, good music underlines the gap between generations. In one episode a supporting actor made a great criminal that gave me shivers. Didn't expect that from a movie. Probably a bit of current knowledge of life in regional Russia would help to understand the plot.
Will definitely watch it again.

Basically what you read in the review, is about the storyline: "Vitka Chesnok is an orphan who dreams about breaking free from his family life. Vitka meets his criminal handicapped father. He decides to take him to a nursing home. He doesn't have a clue of what adventures they are about to face." This is what a Russian Tarantino-wanna be would have made, only without a worthy soundtrack. E Tkachuk is indeed a charismatic actor. It is a good sample of not commercial Russian cinema. It is not easy to feel for such characters as these father and son, but eventually it is some fun to watch.

- TriviaThe movie was short-listed for The Oscars in 2017 along with "Loveless" (which was selected to be nominated as the best foreign feature from Russia). Still, a huge accomplishment for an indie movie with a budget not even close to "Loveless".
