A tale of lost connection with own social environment and a wish to remove oneself from the current nondescript life. A parable of migration in a reversed way. The movie works on a moderate level, low key characters and acting.
What a beautiful movie. Not over the top but understated. Music was a stand out and Sandrine Bonaire was perfect as the widowed mother who had lost purpose in life and decided to take a risk and make a new life in Morocco
I understand depressed people but a whole movie of it was challenging. Even when she seemed happy she was depressed.
This is your typical convoluted French drama. It follows a middle aged woman on a new adventure in a foreign country. There is minimal dialog, and what little there is is trite and meaningless. A variety of incidents occur, some are never followed up. There is a lot of staring into space by the lead actress, and the end is just like many other French movies, confusing, ambiguous, meaningless and of little relevance to the story line in the movie!
Bonnaire does well. But she is better than the rest of it. In reality this is quite a limited movie, and its 103 minutes is plenty. Watch, but keep your expectations in check.
