The first teaser for Poker Face Season 2 has dropped, promising more mystery-solving fun with Natasha Lyonne's human lie detector, Charlie Cale. The first season earned huge accolades for its clever updating of 1970s TV staples like Columbo. Every week, a new murderer appears, seemingly getting away with the perfect crime, only for Charlie to show up and unravel it all with her uncanny ability to spot someone deceiving her.
In keeping with the Columbo formula, Poker Face brings in a rotating series of high-profile guest stars, who usually appear as the various killers of the week. The template provides A-list actors with a meaty role, and yet doesn't tie them down to the long-term commitments of appearing in multiple episodes. The second season looks to capitalize on the success of the first with an impressive array of announced guest stars. With a few exceptions, it is not known who...

Neal Mohan is crowning YouTube the king of TV.
In his 2025 letter to creators, the CEO of the internet’s biggest video site pointed out that this year will bring YouTube’s 20th anniversary. And a lot has happened in those two decades–including a major push from YouTube to challenge not only streaming services like Netflix, but also top TV networks.
That push is paying off. YouTube gets over a billion hours of watch time on living room TVs every day, and has been the most-watched streaming service on TVs for two years straight, according to Nielsen.
Now, Mohan reveals, living room TVs are officially the #1 place for people in the U.S. to watch YouTube content. This means that, for the first time in YouTube history, when people are watching videos, they’re more likely to be watching on a TV than on a smartphone, tablet, or computer.

Gold Derby asked Google’s Gemini AI to forecast this year’s top races, and got some head-scratching results.
The last time we checked in with Gemini AI, Google’s new artificial intelligence bot, it was predicting major Oscar nominations for “Joker: Folie à Deux” stars Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga. Now, following a week that saw the likes of the Golden Globes and Critics Choice Awards weighing in, we caught up with Gemini again and while Phoenix and Gaga are out, “Joker” is in for picture and director Todd Phillips. Also, “The Substance” is now receiving some love from this specific robot for picture and lead actress Demi Moore. Gemini also is endorsing “Gladiator 2,” forecasting the Ridley Scott sequel as a contender for picture, director, and supporting actor Denzel Washington.

The “My Apps” carousel allows users of DirecTV’s Gemini devices to quickly launch their most-used apps. (Courtesy image)
DirecTV is evolving the user interface on its Gemini set-top boxes by adding a new carousel-style menu that collates popular third-party streaming apps.
Earlier this week, DirecTV began pushing out an update to some Gemini set-top boxes and Gemini Air dongles that collates streaming apps and related content from a single screen.
The “My Apps” carousel aggregates the most-watched, trending on-demand and live content from popular third-party apps like Amazon’s Prime Video, Apple TV, Peacock and others, and users can quickly launch apps like Netflix, YouTube and Max from a central place.
DirecTV will showcase the most-used apps by default, but customers can rearrange them based on their own personal preferences, a spokesperson said. The customization makes the My Apps menu ideal for sports fans and binge-watchers alike.

A new limited series exploring the JonBenét Ramsey case is in the works at Paramount+, and will star Melissa McCarthy and Clive Owen.
The JonBenét Ramsey case is one that has haunted Americans for nearly three decades. The six-year-old beauty queen was found dead in the family’s basement only hours after she had been reported missing, but the case has remained unsolved.
There have been quite a few documentaries on the subject, but Paramount+ has now landed the rights to the first fictional look at the infamous cold case. According to Deadline, the series has been looking for a home since March and has now been confirmed to air on Paramount+.
Furthermore, Melissa McCarthy and Clive Owen (picture above in Gemini Man) have been cast as JonBenét’s parents, Patsy and John Ramsey. The series is currently titled simply JonBenét Ramsey and production is set to begin soon in Canada.

Serial Maven Studios has given Variety exclusive access to the trailer for Neil Diamond and Joanne Robertson’s “So Surreal: Behind the Masks,” a Native American documentary world premiering at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival.
The film follows Cree filmmaker Neil Diamond as he studies the anthropological connection between Yup’ik and Northwest Coast ceremonial masks and surrealist artists inspired by them.
A deep dive into the tremendous influence that historical native artwork continues to have among contemporary artists, the film also shines a light on the complex process of repatriation and why it’s important that Indigenous communities have access to their cultural artifacts that are regularly kept in museums and private collections.
What starts as an exercise to examine complex issues quickly takes on a practical dimension when Diamond becomes involved in a quest to help return a Kwakwa̱ka̱ʼwakw ceremonial mask to its rightful owners.

Google‘s AI model is helping creators come up with ideas for their videos. A video on the Creator Insider channel offered details about Brainstorm with Gemini, an AI-powered feature that is currently in the testing phase.
YouTube is building Brainstorm with Gemini on top of other advancements powered by Google’s AI model (which was previously known as Bard). An “ideas and outlines” generator announced earlier this year is now expanding to India, and the latest Gemini-aligned feature is also part of Google’s plan to employ AI as a creativity aid. Neal Mohan has laid out that mission (which includes Shorts-oriented experiments like Dream Screen) in addresses he’s given over the past year.

Following fierce backlash in recent days, Google has decided to remove an ad promoting its Gemini artificial intelligence tool from NBCUniversal coverage of the Paris Olympics.
Titled “Dear Sydney,” the spot (watch it above) depicts a young girl being taught by her father to use Gemini to write a fan letter to her idol, American track-and-field star Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone. “She wants to show Sydney some love and I’m pretty good with words, but this has to be just right,” the girl’s father says in a voiceover.
The idea that AI would be recommended by a parent to a child, as opposed to them handling the main task themselves, rankled a number of viewers, especially with the message set against the inspirational, family canvas of the Olympics.

Google has yanked an ad from NBC’s Olympics broadcasts meant to highlight the power of its Gemini AI tool — but which critics blasted as bizarrely tone-deaf.
In the 60-second ad, “Dear Sydney,” a father wants to help his daughter write a letter to her idol, Olympic track star Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone. In a voiceover, the dad says his daughter “might even be the world’s No. 1 Sydney fan.” Then, in a jarring turn of events, he asks Google’s Gemini AI to “help my daughter write a letter telling Sydney how inspiring she is and be sure to mention that my daughter plans on breaking her world record one day.”
Criticism of the Google ad was nearly immediate after it began airing across NBCU networks starting last week, with commenters focused on the absurdity of using AI to produce a heartfelt missive to a personal hero. “Obviously there are special...

After the success of ‘Bad Boys: Ride or Die,’ there is only one thing in the minds of fans; Will Smith was never cancelled.
However true this may be – I mean it is Will Smith we’re talking about – he’s still not permitted to step foot anywhere near the Oscars for almost a decade.
To add to this, he was also forced to step down from his role as a member of the Academy’s voting committee.
Nevertheless, an insider thinks it’s high time Will Smith got his redemption arc. Is the Academy ready to make it happen?

When David Ellison first came to Hollywood, many dealmakers and insiders both balked and salivated. Here was the son of Larry Ellison, founder of the tech behemoth Oracle, trying to play in the big leagues after dropping out of USC Film School. Being the child of the 3rd wealthiest person in America (now 4th) may have made him not just any other rich kid, but to many, he was still just another nepo baby with cash to burn. And at first, that’s exactly what he did. Financing and co-starring in the 2006 WWI drama “Flyboys,” Ellison’s first dip into the entertainment waters was a critical and box-office failure, only earning $17.8 million against its $60 million budget.
But Ellison didn’t pack his bags just yet. In Hollywood, timing is everything and when he saw investment banks pull capital out of media and entertainment during the financial crisis of the late 2000s,...

Google is considering partnerships with creators as part of its investment in the AI arms race. According to a report from The Information, Google is developing customizable chatbots that will run on its in-house large language model, Gemini.
The report indicates that Google’s chatbot users will be able to customize the personality and appearance of their AI companions. The product could eventually be integrated into YouTube, and Google has reportedly held talks with creators about the possibility of developing chatbots based on those influencers’ likenesses.
That plan sounds similar to the one Meta has put into place for its AI characters. Some of the chatbots powered by Meta’s Llama Llm were built in tandem with creators like Charli D’Amelio and MrBeast. TikTok has also explored the idea of launching its own customizable chatbot product.

Every summer, The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences invites a deluge of new members to join its ranks. Since #OscarsSoWhite back in 2015, the Academy has moved away from its elitist tendencies and toward embracing younger and more diverse artists and executives from all over the world. This year’s invited class is no exception.
If the invitees all accept Academy membership, the total members will number 10,910 and voting members 9,934. And with the addition of the 2024 members, 35 percent of Academy members identify as women, 20 percent of Academy members are from underrepresented ethnic and racial communities, and 20 percent of Academy members are from countries or territories outside the U.S.

Prior to his seven-year stint on "Star Trek: Voyager," Robert Picardo had a lengthy and storied acting career. He was a Joe Dante regular, appearing in "The Howling," "The Explorers," "Innerspace," "The 'Burbs," "Matinee," and "Gremlins 2: The New Batch." He appeared in "Star 80," Ridley Scott's "Legend," the zombie cop film "Dead Heat," and Robert Englund's directorial debut "976-evil." This was all mixed in with plentiful TV work and multiple appearances on stage. Picardo has never been not busy, most recently appearing on a 2024 episode of "Young Sheldon."
Had Picardo never taken the "Star Trek" gig, he still would not have been hurting for work. "Voyager" just happened to be a sizable feather in his cap. "Voyager" simply boosted the actor's visibility and gained him legions of Trekkie fans. On "Voyager," Picardo played the U.S.S. Voyager's nameless Doctor, an Emergency Medical Hologram that had to...

The annual Google I/O conference included an announcement related to YouTube‘s library of educational content. Android users can now test themselves by asking Google’s Gemini chatbot to quiz them on the material they see in videos.
The latest addition to Google’s AI quizzes is accessible through the YouTube mobile app. On qualifying English-language videos, viewers can enter a prompt to figuratively raise their hand and receive a multiple-choice question provided by Gemini. The feature is also available on long-form educational videos, including digital lectures and seminars.
Google explained that the new tool will reinforce learning concepts while also providing more data about the thoroughness of long-form educational videos. Based on the quiz questions, YouTube will determine whether the associated clip accurately represents its chosen topic.
Its been nearly two years since YouTube first announced its intention to launch quizzes within posts on individual channels’ Community tabs.

Directv via internet is a great way to watch all your favorite cable channels, but what features set it apart?
Figuring out which TV service to pick can be a dizzying experience. There are so many choices available, and most of the top providers have become hybrid services, providing options to watch broadcast and cable channels through traditional methods like a cable box or satellite dish, as well as internet-delivered plans. While this gives consumers even more flexibility when deciding where to spend their money, all of the additional options and features involved can also make things more complicated.
That’s exactly where The Streamable can help. We’ve been breaking down streaming options from essentially every provider since 2017, so you can trust our expert opinions about the best ways to watch top cable channels like ESPN, FX, TNT, Hallmark Channel, as well as locals like ABC, CBS, NBC and...

Most news consumers are not interested in reading news content that was created using artificial intelligence (AI) tools like ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini, according to the findings of a new survey released this week.
The survey, conducted by marketing firm Bynder, revealed more than half of American and British participants wanted news stories produced by humans rather than robots. Review-related content written by AI programs were slightly more acceptable, with around 41 percent saying they were Ok with machine-learning tools creating “advice guides” that can lead someone to buy a product or service.
The survey comes about one month after Adweek reported Google was pitching certain software-based solutions to large-scale news organizations with the promise that AI-powered tools could help in the research and reporting phases of a news story.

Google’s Gemini is facing accusations of discrimination these days. An alternative to the ChatGPT AI bot, Gemini has run into trouble as users claim it is too ‘woke’ and biased against white people. Gemini is a new and powerful artificial intelligence model from Google.
Gemini (via Google)
The controversy started when a user noticed that Gemini (formerly Bard) was showing incorrect images when asked about the Founding Fathers of the US.
Mike Wacker, a former Google engineer, accused the bot of manipulating search results. He even posted screenshots of his chat with the bot, where he asked for images of the Founding Fathers.
After the AI model had already been making waves for its bias, the CEO of Tesla Motors added fuel to the fire. Elon Musk slammed Google’s AI for its reply about white privilege, expressing his discontent with it.

Sydney – Monday 6 November, 2023. The Sydney Opera House today announced two electrifying contemporary music events over summer with genre-raiding psych-rockers Unknown Mortal Orchestra making their Concert Hall debut on January 30, and alternative R&b star Steve Lacy performing two shows in-the-round on 31 January and 1 February 2024.
Unknown Mortal Orchestra’s (Umo) appearance follows the March release of their definitive fifth album, V – an exquisite collection of songs that evokes the 70s rock and 80s pop of frontman Ruban Nielson’s childhood, while exploring love, loss and his Hawaiian heritage. The album makes a strong case for itself as his sun-bleached masterpiece, earning a 4.5 star review from Uncut and a place on The Guardian’s ‘best albums of 2023 so far’ list.

Visual effects supervisor Guy Williams reveals that Will Smith's character in Gemini Man was rendered entirely with CGI in one scene, showing the impressive lengths the effects team went to. The CGI Smith had to match every minute detail of the real-life Smith, including pores and sweat, and any misstep in the movements between them would ruin the shot. This use of CGI in Gemini Man speaks to the power of the technology and its potential to replace actors in scenes, even when it goes unnoticed by viewers.

Smith starred in the 2019 action thriller as Henry Brogan, a middle-aged, retired assassin who fights off his own attempted assassination, only to discover that the young man pursuing him is none other than a 25-year-old clone of himself.

San Francisco, June 27 (Ians) DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis has said that google-owned artificial intelligence (AI) company is working on a new AI system named ‘Gemini’ which will be more capable than that behind OpenAI’s ChatGPT.

Gemini is still in development and is a large language model (Llm) that works with text and is similar to Gpt-4, which powers ChatGPT.

There are many different Joker zodiac sign examples, and that should surprise no one. When it comes to Batman's villains, past and present, none connect as strongly to Batman as his main nemesis, The Joker. The Clown Prince of Crime was actually Batman's first "supervillain" in an era where DC Comics had Batman and Superman mostly fighting mobsters. Not only that, but Joker died in his first appearance in Batman comics and was only brought back from the dead because he became extremely popular with readers. It was Joker who arguably convinced DC to create the idea of supervillains.
Since that time, Joker has also become one of Batman's most persistent villains in movies, TV shows, and video games, and no other villain comes close. There have been some major actors taking on the role as well. Cesar Romero, a Latino acting legend, took on the role in the classic Adam West Batman TV series.

Exclusive: Beau Bridges (Dreamin’ Wild), Jessica Parker Kennedy (The Flash), Bruce Davison (1923) and Miguel Gabriel (Puss in Boots: The Last Wish) will topline Camera, an indie drama from award-winning filmmaker Jay Silverman (Saving Paradise), which has wrapped production.
Pic tells the story of Oscar (Gabriel), a nine-year-old boy who is unable to speak, watching as he struggles to adapt to the small fishing town where he has just moved with his widowed, hard-working mother Evelyn (Kennedy). Brought together by a broken film format camera, an unlikely friendship is formed between Oscar and a kind repair shop owner, Eric (Bridges).
With the local fishing industry in decline, the townspeople where Oscar and Evelyn now live become fiercely divided as to whether or not to stake their futures on building a luxury hotel – which will surely bring in new jobs — or fight to keep things the way they have been there for generations.

A lot of names have been bandied about to replace Daniel Craig as the next James Bond. Henry Cavill. Tom Hardy. Idris Elba. But there’s one actor who’s already synonymous with the role, and he’s nothing if not available: Sean Connery.
Deceased actors have been brought back from the grave before: Carrie Fisher, Paul Walker, Peter Cushing and Harold Ramis, among others, have each been resurrected for the screen, with mixed results, thanks to old-fashioned CGI wizardry. But recent, startling advancements in artificial intelligence promise to deliver far more realistic results than ever before thought possible. According to the experts, the technology needed to create a totally believable deep fake 30-year-old Connery is just around the corner.
