    Zero for conduct

Short films of course date back to the birth of cinema, even before Nickelodeons were a prime form of exhibition. But this Norwegian movie has nothing to offer.

Briefly, it sets up a dramatic situation, only to deliver a groaner of a "funny" finish. It's not a case of being mean-spirited. But instead an attempt to be clever that fails completely.

"David v. Goliat" poses a familiar cliche (and metaphor) from boxing movies, most effectively used positively is Sly Stallone's "Rocky", concerning the impulse to fight to the end rather than give up, even when victory seems out of reach. By using actual boxing rather than some novel version of the concept, it's not creative, merely satirical.

Why waste the time and effort of moviemaking to merely create a dumb joke? I used to see hundreds of short films, some turning out to be classics, many of zero merit, as a film buff regularly attending film festivals and as part of my interest in avant-garde cinema. I certainly hold the genre to a higher standard rather than just filler or the one-joke level of a TV commercial, and this one fails.
