In a major German film and TV industry shakeup, Vuelta Germany CEO Al Munteanu – who recently completed the merger of the pan-European studio’s German units – is stepping down to focus on production. Munteanu will hand the reins to Dirk Schweitzer, who is stepping down as head of German studio Mmc.
Schweitzer, who prior to joining Mmc held senior positions at several German media groups — including being CEO of German producer/distributor Splendid Media and managing director of Tele-München Group — will lead Velta Germany in an interim role, according to a statement.
Munteanu has been instrumental to the integration process of Vuelta’s SquareOne Entertainment, Telepool and EuroVideo units. As part of this merger, Telepoo’s international sales arm, Global Screen, has now been folded into Vuelta’s French division Playtime. The Vuelta Germany team also closed a new booking and billing deal with Constantin Film for its extensive slate of theatrical films.

Woman of the Dead Season 2 emerges as a grim, atmospheric thriller that carries forward a story steeped in melancholy and mystery. The series unfolds in a seemingly sleepy town where every corner hides whispers of secrets, corruption, and covert schemes.
Its narrative juxtaposes the weight of personal loss with the decay of a community gripped by unseen agendas. Here, tragedy and a failing society form a complex interplay that provokes questions about fate and the inescapability of our past.
This chapter of the tale introduces a shift in focus. The narrative no longer fixates solely on a thirst for retribution; instead, it portrays a desperate struggle for survival and the relentless protection of loved ones.
The landscape of the story is marked by a harsh tone—a relentless intensity that mirrors the darkness lurking behind each character’s facade. Moments of tender familial devotion contrast sharply with the brutal realities...

Netflix’s German thriller series, Woman of the Dead, returns with a second season, and this time, once again, we witness Brunhilde Blum go to extreme lengths to protect her family. Trouble ensues when, after two years, the skeletons in the mortician’s closet are about to come tumbling out. Some unexpected legal trouble resulted in the exhumation of a body, and dismembered body parts of another corpse were discovered in the coffin. Since Blum’s connection with Edwin Schonborn was previously established (in season 1) as a result of some polaroids coming to light, the police suspected her involvement in the multiple murders that unfolded a couple of years ago. Even though Blum tried her best to move on and spend quality time with her family, her past continued to haunt her.

Woman of the Dead returns with a second season when the ghost of Brunhilde Blum’s past knocks on her door. It has been two years since her husband’s death and the violent aftermath that followed, and once again Blum found herself at the crossroads of making a morally right decision or abiding by the law. The discovery of severed body parts in a coffin resulted in police suspicion, and to make matters worse, a blackmailer threatened to ruin Blum and her family if she failed to hand him a video he was looking for. Since Blum had learned about the secret society run by Edwin Schonborn in season one, and she was responsible for killing the five members, the blackmailer assumed she had access to the video. But Blum had no idea what he was after, and the fear of the police digging up her past and the...

The ending of Woman of the Dead season 2 ultimately revealed that the pen-drive the nefarious contractor Badal Sarkissian had been looking for contained a video of gubernatorial candidate Richard Lange. [Spoiler Alert] So, the truth was, Lange, just like the rest of the vicious men in Tyrol, enjoyed watching/making snuff films of innocent women, and Johanna Schonborn’s dead son, Edwin, had one of his videos on his laptop. When Johanna found out that Lange was running for governor, she took Lange’s video from her son’s laptop and started blackmailing Lange anonymously. Lange knew the clip with his face in it could not only jeopardize his political career but also start an official investigation against him from which there would be no escape. This was the reason why Lange requested Badal to find his blackmailer, and Badal hired a professional hitman named Brynner to find Edwin’s pen-drive. Now,...

Netflix is adding over a dozen new titles to its inventory this week. From new seasons of current hits to topnotch sleeper movies, you can find something for everyone this week on your favorite streaming service.
No, there isn't anything coming this week that's likely to have the same impact as the number one show, Adolescence. By the way, it's every bit as good as the critics say it is. Okay, maybe one show will. But it really isn't likely that anything debuting this week will knock The Electric State out of its top spot among movies. I believe the critics are just as wrong about the sci-fi movie as they are right about the top-ranked drama.
But that's a discussion - or diatribe - for another time. For now, let's delve into the various worlds of zombies, hip-hop, reality shows, and comedy coming up this week. No, that's not all one show,...

Woman of the Dead (Totenfrau) is a series created by Benito Mueller, Wolfgang Mueller and Barbara Stepansky. It stars Anna Maria Mühe. It is based on a novel by Bernhard Aichner and It is directed by Nicolai Rohde.
Another noir series offered to us by the streaming platform for this weekend. This Austrian drama, thriller series is a story of revenge set in the Alps. An earthy production, and with good performances this will be to the liking of noir thriller fans.
About the Series
In six episodes we follow Brünhilde, a Leichendiener (a morgue employee). As her beloved husband dies in a strangely off accident, she starts to suspect this was after all no accident. An so, starts her quest.
It is an unassuming series that is quite classic in narrative style, slow paced and no grand effects, we are given a realistic setting, but not much profundity in character study.

2022 represented Netflix’s 25th (!!) year of operations as a company. Unfortunately, the streamer celebrated its 25th birthday with some earnings losses, massive cancelations, and a whole host of bad press. What will year 26 hold for the little Blockbuster killer that could? We now have a good idea thanks to Netflix’s list of new releases for January 2023.
Netflix is kicking off 2023 with some muscular original series…and in one instance we mean literally muscular. Vikings: Valhalla season 2 will premiere on Jan. 13, bringing some much needed Norse mayhem back to television. Other titles of note include Ginny & Georgia season 2 (Jan. 5), and That ’90s Show (Jan. 19). The most intriguing option, however, might be what Netflix is choosing to open its year with. Kaleidoscope premieres on Jan. 1 and will present a heist story that will be told in a random order for each Netflix viewer.
Meanwhile, the true crime machine continues apace for Netflix in 2023. Jan.
