Country Town

Phillip Robinson plays the editor of a local newspaper. He talks about his anonymous town in this dull little short subject from producer Sidney Box.

In its efforts to be universal, alas, the shape of this short subject becomes very specific, talking about the dances, the roller-skating rink and the name of the local farmers who are popular with the young women. I would imagine that people in small towns throughout Britain were supposed to look at this and say excitedly "That's just like ___ ______!" I, however, found that the impulse to say so rather frustrating.
