Congratulations are in order for Wolfgang Van Halen, who married his longtime girlfriend, Andraia Allsop, in a ceremony at their Los Angeles home on Sunday (October 15th). The rocker brought a little metal to the festivities by including the mighty Meshuggah on the wedding playlist.
Wolfgang and Andraia got married on the eighth anniversary of their first date. According to People, the bride was walked down the aisle by her father as Dean Martin’s “Everybody Loves Somebody” played.
Meanwhile, Wolfgang walked down the aisle with his mom, Valerie Bertinelli, to a tune written by his late father, the legendary Eddie Van Halen. “The song that my father had written for me, it’s an instrumental piece called ‘316,’ he told People in a pre-wedding interview. “It’ll be a nice way to include my dad.”

The month of April for Hulu is jam-packed with TV and film goodies, from Adam Sandler’s 1999 comedy “Big Daddy” to Fox’s hit sitcom “New Girl.”
On top of Hulu’s rollout of a new interface, it’s also adding some major film and TV titles to its platform. Some of the highlights that set off the first day of April include “American Psycho,” “Shrek” and its sequel “Shrek 2,” plus the Tim Story-directed “Think Like a Man.”
Anime series will be all the rage on Hulu with the dubbed version of the new popular series “Chainsaw Man” arriving, along with “Spy x Family” and “Black Clover.” If you’re looking for something a little bit more kid-friendly, the family can al enjoy “Despicable Me” and “Despicable 2,” “Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days” and “Nanny McPhee.” For the lovers and heartless romantics, “Dear John” and “Date Night...

Hulu’s list of new releases for April 2023 don’t feature many blockbusters, but if we dig a little, I’m sure we can find some gems.
Perhaps the most promising items are on the TV side of things. Tiny Beautiful Things premieres on April 7 and stars Kathryn Hahn as “a floundering writer who becomes a revered advice columnist while her own life is falling apart.” That will be followed by comedy Am I Being Unreasonable? on April 11 and two documentaries: high school football story Algiers, America (April 19) and Tupac Shakur piece Dear Mama (April 22).
The best TV candidate this month, however, is probably Saint X on April 26. This series, told via multiple timelines, “explores and upends the girl-gone-missing genre as it explores how a young woman’s mysterious death during an idyllic Caribbean vacation creates a traumatic ripple effect that eventually pulls her surviving sister into a dangerous pursuit of the truth.

One of the most anticipated television releases of April is coming to Hulu on April 7. “Tiny Beautiful Things” stars Kathryn Hahn as troubled writer Clare. Ironically, she becomes a great advice columnist as her life falls apart. Her marriage is in trouble and her teen daughter hates her. Plus, her writing career is going nowhere. Based on the best-selling collection by Cheryl Strayed, the limited series explores the author’s journey toward healing herself and others.
Check out the “Tiny Beautiful Things” trailer:
Also arriving on Hulu in April is the series adaptation of the best-selling novel “Saint X.” The series is based on Alexis Schaitkin’s novel of the same name and follows a woman’s dangerous pursuit of her older sister’s disappearance on an idyllic Caribbean vacation. Through multiple timelines, the series explores all the traumatic ripples the mystery created for countless people. The series will star Alycia Debnam-Carey,...

Even if you’ve signed up for every streaming service out there, it can feel monumental when a title moves from one to another. In April, Netflix mainstay “New Girl” moves to Hulu; still streaming, but not where fans are used to finding it — like rearranging the furniture in your apartment and waking up surprised every day that the couch is over there now.
But what’s important is that “New Girl” lives on, now joining Hulu’s own TV and movie library and originals from Freeform, FX, National Geographic, and more. Later in the month, Leila Gerstein’s “Saint X” — based on the novel by Alexis Schaitkin — premieres with three episodes, recounting the story of a young girl found dead during a family vacation and the sister piecing it together years later. Alycia Debnam-Carey, Josh Bonzie, West Duchovny, Jayden Elijah, Bre Francis, Kenlee Anaya Townsend, Betsy Brandt, and Michael Park star.

Prime Video got off to a fast start this summer with the release of The Boys season 3 on June 3. Now, as we enter the dog days, Prime Video is set to keep the warm weather good times rolling with a new twist on an old classic. That’s right, Amazon’s list of new releases for August 2022 is highlighted by some good old-fashioned baseball.
A League of Their Own, the TV adaptation of Penny Marshall’s 1992 movie, is set to premiere on Aug. 12. Like the movie before it, the series will dramatize the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League which saw women playing America’s pastime while the major leagues were on pause for World War II. Abbi Jacobson (Broad City) co-created the show and will star as catcher Carson Shaw.
Other Prime Video Originals of note this month include season 2 of British comedy The Outlaws on and the Ron Howard-directed Thirteen Lives,...

After collaborating on a number of hit songs over the years, Snoop Dogg and Jamie Foxx are now teaming up for vampire-hunter film “Day Shift.”

Foxx stars in the new Netflix movie as a hard working, blue collar dad who wants to provide a good life for his quick-witted 8-year-old daughter, but his mundane San Fernando Valley pool cleaning job is a front for his real source of income — hunting and killing vampires as part of an international union of vampire hunters.
J.J. Perry — known for his work as a second-unit director and stunt coordinator on films including “Fast 9,” “The Fate of the Furious,” “Bloodshot,” and the “John Wick” franchise — makes his directorial debut with the pic. “Day Shift” is written by Tyler Tice with current revisions by Shay Hatten.

The scabrously-titled absurdist drama “Cook F**k Kill” from Slovak multihyphenate Mira Fornay is Examining unhealthy relationships, it’s structured as a prologue and three chapters, all of which make imaginative use of metaphor and anxiety-inducing images and framing. The stylized action sometimes brings to mind Swedish helmer Johannes Nyholm’s “Koko-di Koko-da,” also about a couple stuck in a damaging behavioral pattern. Overall, the film is a tad too long and definitely not for everyone, yet it is without doubt Fornay’s most ambitious and stimulating work. Festivals with adventurous programming venues should take note.
A 64-second prologue, featuring a Greek chorus of female villagers in swimsuits on the bank of a river recounting a fable to a figure in the water, manages to introduce many of the film’s key themes, concepts, and visuals. Ben O’Toole.
After graduating from Waapa in 2011, Ben O’Toole played policeman Pete for three seasons of Love Child, had supporting roles in The Water Diviner and Hacksaw Ridge and co-starred in the Us movies Detroit and 12 Strong.
The Brisbane-born actor plays the leads in Alister Grierson’s comedic thriller Bloody Hell and in Kiah Roache-Turner’s horror-comedy Nekrotronic, yet he is far from satisfied with where he is at in his career.
“I still have a lot more to learn; I have much further to go,” says O’Toole, who has bases in Sydney and Los Angeles, the latter with actor-director housemate Kick Gurry.
Working with Mel Gibson on Hacksaw Ridge and with Chris Hemsworth on 12 Strong were great learning experiences.

Goldie Hawn has lived a full life — and she’s talking to daughter Kate Hudson about it.
The 71-year-old actress was interviewed by her 38-year-old daughter in Interview’s May issue where they talked about Hawn’s prolific acting career and why she took a step back from the screen for 15 years.
And when Hudson asked her mom about her life when she moved to New York to start her career, the actress remembered one of her first jobs in the city — go-go dancing. Hawn says she made $25 a night and used it to pay rent, but every night wasn’t a success.

I dont know where this photo is from but I love itDespite the R rating, or perhaps because of it, Logan opened much stronger than its 2013 predecessor The Wolverine (which eventually racked up $414 million globally). Logan will easily become the highest grossing Wolverine film by the end of its run thanks to what will surely be strong word of mouth... something this particular solo franchise has never experienced.

The marathon run of specialized awards contenders reaches its climax tonight. Only a handful will get a further boost. It has been a strong season, with business spread out among multiple films.
Meantime, a handful of releases outside the awards world, led by cat documentary “Kedi” (Oscilloscope) and the wider decently performing “A United Kingdom” (Fox Searchlight) will need to make up the gaps ahead.
One final Oscar nominee, the Swiss animated feature “My Life As a Zucchini” (Oscilloscope) had a decent start in a single theater each in New York and Los Angeles. This will see some niche life ahead as arthouses look for needed supplementary releases.
In every previous case of the first release of a Sundance U.S. Dramatic Competition winner would be the top story in this report, as was the case for “The Birth of a Nation” and “Me and Earl and the Dying Girl.

Karla Souza is bringing a refreshing take on romantic comedies, and what kind of stories they're telling. We recently sat down with the How to Get Away With Murder star to discuss her new film Everybody Loves Somebody, and we were not only blown away by this concept of slaying one's internal dragons when it comes to modern-day love but also how this film is so genuinely inclusive. The 31-year-old actress brings to life the character of Clara and it was evident by the first few minutes of the film, that Clara is all of us. The successful Mexican-American Ogbyn's family and career fulfill her, but when it comes to love, there is a sense of cynicism that she can't get...

How To Get Away With Murder's Karla Souza takes the lead in Everybody Loves Somebody, a romantic comedy that defies the genre. Souza, director Catalina Aguilar Mastretta and her costars Patricia Bernal, Ben O'Toole and Tiara Scanda sat down with CineMovie to discuss why the film breaks with Hollywood tradition in making the woman the commitment phobe, and showing a Latino family in a positive and non-stereotypical fashion.

President's Day weekend last year was a monster thanks to the $152+ million four-day opening for Deadpool. A year before that Fifty Shades of Grey took advantage of the fortuitous timing with a $93 million four-day opening. This year's new releases*Fist Fight, The Great Wall and A Cure for Wellness*won't be making such big waves as only one looks as if it will find its way into the top three while the others take a backseat to a trio of second weekend holdovers. At the top, look for WB's The Lego Batman Movie to secure a second weekend at #1 and will top $100 million by the end of the day on Monday. The Lego Batman Movie heads into the weekend with strong word of mouth ("A-" CinemaScore), solid reviews (75 on Metacritic) and it remains the widest release of the weekend as the only film playing in over 4,000 theaters. Lego Batman opened...

Welcome back to the Weekend Warrior, your weekly look at the new movies hitting theaters this weekend, as well as other cool events and things to check out.
This Past Weekend:
The Lego Batman Movie won the weekend as expected, but not with nearly as much money as I had predicted, not besting the opening of The Lego Movie as expected, but instead ending up with a reasonable and not so bad $53 million. Fifty Shades Darker proved that the audience for movies based on the popular books was still great enough for it to win Friday with $21 million (to Lego Batman’s $15 million) and end up second for the weekend with a strong $46.6 million. That was still almost $40 million less than the opening of the previous movie Fifty Shades of Grey, but the sequel also didn’t have the benefits of Valentine’s Day and a four-day holiday. Coming in...

After easily conquering highly-anticipated sequels Fifty Shades Darker and John Wick 2, Lego Batman Movie has its sights set on three more newcomers hitting theaters this weekend, to retain its box office crown. The animated spin-off will go up against Universal's big budget action epic The Great Wall, starring Matt Damon, Warner Bros.' comedy Fist Fight starring Ice Cube and Charlie Day and 20th Century Fox's A Cure For Wellness starring Dane DeHaan. We're predicting that, at least for this weekend, The Lego Batman Movie finds a way to stay on top at the box office, with a projected $29.6 million.
One reason that The Lego Batman Movie will likely stay on top is because it will still be playing in hundreds of more theaters than any of these newcomers. The Lego Batman Movie debuted in 4,088 theaters last weekend, a number that will likely remain unchanged this Friday, with Box Office...

Before The Hunger Games set box office records in March 2012, that month wasn't normally considered one to launch a franchise. Lately, February has been a go-to month to launch some unconventional blockbusters, following the success of Warner Bros.' The Lego Movie ($69 million opening, $469.1 million worldwide). Fifty Shades of Grey ($85.1 million opening weekend, $571 million worldwide), Kingsman: The Secret Service ($36.2 million opening weekend, $414.3 million worldwide) and the R-rated Deadpool ($132.4 million debut, $783.1 million worldwide). This year, three highly-anticipated movies square off, with The Lego Movie spin-off The Lego Batman movie facing a pair of R-rated sequels, Universal's sexually-charged erotic drama Fifty Shades Darker and Lionsgate's action-packed John Wick: Chapter 2. As expected, all three newcomers fared quite well, but The Lego Batman Movie came out on top with $55.6 million.

One of the crowd-pleasing world premiere films shown this year in Palm Springs is a bilingual romantic comedy, Everybody Loves Somebody, which doesn't break any new ground thematically but still manages to make an appealing addition to the rom-com genre. Pantelion Films will release it in the U.S. and should find a sympathetic audience, especially if the picture is shrewdly marketed in parts of the country with sizable Latino populations.

"All you've ever done is leave. Everybody loves somebody eventually..." Aw, charming and true. Pantelion Films has debuted the trailer for an indie romantic comedy titled Everybody Loves Somebody, from Mexican filmmaker Catalina Aguilar Mastretta, about a big wedding in Mexico. Mexican actress Karla Souza (seen on "How to Get Away with Murder") stars as Clara Barron, a woman who has trouble figuring out her love life. During her trip home for a wedding, her "crazy" family provides her with some guidance for her life. The full cast includes José María Yazpik, Ben O'Toole, K.C. Clyde, Tiaré Scanda, Patricia Bernal, and Alejandro Camacho. This probably won't appeal to everyone, but it does have some charm. Here's the trailer (+ poster) for Catalina Aguilar Mastretta's Everybody Loves Somebody, on YouTube: On the surface, the young and beautiful Clara Barron (Karla Souza) seems to have everything - a great job as an...
