American GRINDHOUSE director Elijah Drenner is featured in this six minute look at producer Harry Novak. This featurette can be found on the Severin release of THE SINFUL DWARF, a film that Novak distributed here in America. Drenner basically gives us a quick history lesson as to the importance of Novak and how after several decades he is getting the respect and attention that he deserves. We learn about how Novak got into the business and then we hear about some of the early films he released and how his approach changed over the years. Obviously at just six minutes there's nothing ground-breaking here but this will be a good introduction to those who aren't really familiar with Novak and his style of films. There are some nice clips shown here so if you're new to exploitation then this is a nice little introduction, although Drenner's American GRINDHOUSE is a must see as well.
