    Great!

This Barbie film was surprisingly reaaally good! I wasn't expecting to like it that much, considering I am a huge fan of the order Barbie movies. But some of the more recent ones are actually really interesting!

when you rate a barbie movie

You have to remember its a generally low budget barbie movie made for small girls. And by that standard this movie was perfectly wonderful! I would say it's up there with the likes of diamond castle and princess and the pauper! It had a cohesive story, some rather beautiful visuals, and some pretty neat characters. It also had some pretty interesting world building with the environment that their "space" provided. I would say that the only thing that really brought it down is the sort of back and forth barbie has when she thinks she's not part of the team anymore only to immediate prove herself. But that's more of a nitpick than anything else.

    Worst Barbie movie to date

I really wanted to like this movie especially since it is space themed but my god I was wrong. The character name was barbie??? Serisouly?? What was her power? And no villain which brought down the story.

    A fun ride

This film is visually stunning, has entertaining characters, good songs and some nice humour. The story is a little bland and confusing; it starts with a fully formed world quite different to our own with no clear explanation as to what's going on. But maybe that's for the viewer to figure out or manufacture for themselves from their imagination. And of course if the viewer wants more story they can buy the toys and create their own adventures with these characters. But every moment of the film is hugely entertaining, and when it seemed the story was reaching a false ending halfway through the film, only to continue with more story, I was surprised to find that was the real ending, and I had already been watching the film for over an hour! Great fun, I wanted more...

Barbie is an intergaltic space princess with a hoverboard!?

Oh my god, I bloody love this film. Barbie lives in futuristic world with fantastical creatures and beautiful landscapes, she also has these telekinesis powers and can fly on a hoverboard!? She is chosen by the King to find the stars secret song because they are all fading away, (the king seems to be some sort of far right conservative type guy bit of an ick icl) Barbie advocates for animal rights, free speech, teamwork and has a really sweet songs. I liked the trope with Barbie mourning her mum which was different to some of the other Barbie films. Last fairytale film from Barbie which was sad but what a way to go out on.

Narrator: Once upon a time, in a distant galaxy, the stars would twinkle and twirl in the sky. Keeping the galaxy in bright harmony with their light. But an ancient prophecy told of a time when the Harmony would be broken. The stars and planets would slow their dance and disappear, leaving a galaxy of darkness. Yet, there was hope, as the prophecy also foretold of one who could restore harmony to the stars. One with the heart of a leader.

[Then the record scratches and shows the King and his robot servant]

Narrator: Hmm, not him, or him. But try telling a king that. Even though the king had tried and failed many times over, he was certain he was the one who would return the stars to their shimmering glory. He just needed a little help. So he recruited a team with special skills to join a mission to save the stars.

[Then the title screen Barbie: Star Light Adventure shows up and the movie begins]
