Sprawiedliwy

I enjoyed watching "The Righteous" and the story kept me interested. There are many films about the Holocaust, and what distinguishes "The Righteous" is perhaps its attempt to be objective and to show the different attitudes of Poles in the face of the extermination of the Jewish population. In Poland, too many generalizations are used, and there are too many people who do not understand that the concept of "nation" is an abstract concept to which specific characteristics should not be attributed too easily. Only individual people are real, so we can say that someone is heroic and decent and another person can be a coward. Therefore, Michal Szczerbic's film has educational value, because it allows people to realize the senselessness of the actions of institutions such as the IPN (Institute of National Remembrance), which in recent years have only been looking for positive behaviors of Poles. Another advantage of the film is its decent acting, which was ensured by the participation of many well-known actors. A certain weakness of the film was that I personally felt that this story did not really happen and it was only an honest attempt to present an image of those days. For me, the best book about a similar topic that I have read was "Wartime Lies" by the American-Jewish-Polish writer Louis Begley. Begley writes about his real experiences as a Jewish child in Poland, and that is why it is so gripping and yet so amazingly objective and wise.
