Legit could guess when the jumpscare comes from. Cliche cliche cliche absolutely nothing original. Even the sounds werent original, they were taken from some free to use scary sounds since I could recognize them instantly. The stupid scary music for no reason. Everything was just soooo bad
Sinister Circle (Juego siniestro): Apparently this is a sequel to Cementerio General. A psychologist in Mexico suffers a double whammy, a patient who is seeing demons commits suicide and her mother in Lima, Peru tries to burn down an apartment building building after teenagers die whilst using an Ouija board. We have satanic cults trying to summon up Moloch through human sacrifice, the psychologists son seeing ghosts and somehow the death in Mexico being linked to the events in Peru. it all centres on a cursed Ouija Board and the sinister apartment block. Some good scares, hands emerging from baths and under beds, grabbing people, general aura of threat especially in the building. OK horror but nothing great. Directed by Dorian Fernández-Moris. 6/10. On Netflix.
Watched this movie in Netflix with English subtitles.. It is a good thriller instead of horror..Not as bad as the reviewers here are claiming. Watch it once without expecting anything scary..
It isn't very often that you get the chance to see a movie from Peru, so when this particular Peruvian movie popped up on Netflix, I decided to seize the opportunity. However, the movie let me down in most departments. I knew that the budget was very tight, so I was able to look past the fact that the general look and feel of the movie was akin to what's typically found in an episode of a typically Canadian television drama. However, the movie simply doesn't work in its main attempt, to scare or to simply chill. Certainly, the script contains a story cobbled from multiple elements and plot turns you've seen in dozens of other horror movies before, but the direction is utterly unimaginative. The attempts at horror come across in a surprisingly matter-of-fact manner, with apparently no effort to punch them up or give them freshness. And the movie, despite only being about 86 minutes long, plods along extremely slowly scene from scene. What the movie ends up being is a horror movie for those who don't like to be scared, and are possibly at the same time being insomniacs. Chances are that it will be a long time before Netflix gets acquires another movie from Peru.
Surprisingly enough, this horror movie didn't make it to the top like many other Spanish horror titles do. Bad acting, characterisation and plot make it a painful popcorn-time from the very beginning.
Spanish movies are normally awesome in all senses (photography, story, actors, twists, etc), but this one really fails to bright in all these departments. If you wish to try really good Spanish movies, go for THE BODY (EL CUERPO), THE INVISIBLE GUEST (CONTRATIEMPO), SLEEP TIGHT (MIENTRAS DUERMES) or even REC, just to mention a few. Juego Siniestro is not a good way to start.
