I dont know why only 3 stars on this??? I rate it 10 stars!! Excellent story!! Excellent acting!! Had a few twists and turns to give it lots of interest!! And It was about helping your fellow neighbor !! It isnt always about the rules or laws!! Great movie for family viewing too!!!

While this entertaining romantic Christmas drama won't win any prestigious movie awards, this film stands out for its defying the stereotypical, traditional script that plays over and over in Christmas movies. Instead while this stand apart movie doesn't askew the typical overall plot outline nor become a serious, critically acclaimed drama, the script has a unique soft ordinary touch. In some ways this movie borders on the mundane, everyday characters, interactions, and underplayed real-life dilemmas and possibly more authentic resolutions and solutions without having to resort to the more splashy melodramatic roles and plot points seen in most Christmas films. This movie displays its enjoyable relevance from its ability to reflect a more natural presentation of humanity at Christmas.

The movie itself was just fine. I like the story and it was nice to not quite know the ending beforehand. Sometimes these movies are quite predictable.

My only contention is with the son arriving in military uniform. I am a retired vet and I was severely disappointed to see a Soldier in uniform WEARING EARRINGS! I am ok with most ridiculous mistakes these movies make when it comes to military personnel in uniforms/behavior/how they talk but this is ridiculous. The worst mistake I have ever seen. The producers should have done a better job with this kind of thing.

I do love a good Christmas movie and Hallmark do dominate this particular niche. This movie isn't Hallmark and a few differences made it for me. Small but significant features; 1) they actually filmed it in the winter time - real snow and visible breath and 2) a story line that was genuinely touching and in the true spirit of Christmas.my only small quibble that has been mentioned, is the very quick transition from unpleasant and arrogant male lead to sincere, genuine lovely guy.

Other than that, a well acted movie with a good story line. Best Christmas movie I've seen this year. And that is saying something.

UP TV is quickly building a library of Christmas movies that rivals the Hallmark brands. The UP movies feel more real, with more genuine characters . Tim Reid steals this movie. His character's sadness and gentle dignity is amazing. It's hard to imagine him as Venus Flytrap after this movie! The female lead is certainly less attractive than most of the Hallmark leads, but that lets the director focus on the story.
