It's a great zombie genre comedy for the first 20 minutes but then it becomes a slowing moving zombie drama. It's obviously borrowing from films like the Shaun of the Dead, Return of the Living Dead and the tv show, The Walking Dead.
The plot follows a group of mostly childhood friends, who are now bong-friendly adults fending off a zombie attack. It has interesting visual transitions which seem inspired by Zack Snyder's Dawn of the Dead remake.
The one strong thing it has is that it was made like George Romero's the Night of the Living Dead with a strong community support. In this case, the film's support is from Ohio.

This horror comedy stoner flick filmed in Columbus Ohio is a JOY to watch. If you aren't laughing, you are JUMPING out of your seat in shock! Filmed in a city steeped in rock and roll, the sound track is made from the authentic music scene. The old middle class neighborhood Clintonville is the setting for the struggle between cannabis loving residents and starving gangs of Zombies. This is sure to become a Halloween classic!

So, for an indie film this is killer stuff... The camerawork is good, the sound is good, the acting is good. Don't expect some top-teir Hollywood special effects and makeup, this is not intended to be that kind of movie. It is MEANT to be cheesy and silly, and it did a great job of it. The actors did a fantastic job at being hokey but not too hokey, it is obvious that this film is meant to be a stoner spoof and not a serious horror film in any way, but there are some very serious and tense moments woven into the satire nicely. All in all I really enjoyed it, and if you aren't expecting Romero you will not be disappointed.
I was in the mood for watching some terrible zombie movies so put on this another another couple and 2/3 ended up being surprisingly good.
I really thought with a title like 'bong of the living dead' was going to be an awful amateur film full of in jokes and poor acting but actually it's decently shot, acted and written.
The characters are all pretty likable, there's bits of practical fx that are quite nice and there's some fun observations about zombie films. I laughed a few times and I actually felt something for the characters, partially because it showed how four of them grew up together and in a way were looking forward to the apocalypse. There was some nice, well deserved character development when it wasn't what they'd hoped.
The only negative is that one of the characters seems to very suddenly completely change and then completely change back without any real reason given.
Still, I'd actually recommend and I might watch again.
Well done everyone.

Bad script and zero character development. I couldn't begin to tell you what a bong has to do with the title. There is not one redeeming quality about this film.
