Years have passed and I still think fondly of this film, which I have watched again and I think I will return to it again someday.
It starts out as a simple movie about time travel and a girl pretending to be a eunuch, but it's so beautiful. It touches on the subject of success in life and academic validation, of the fact that each of us is perfect at something as long as we believe in ourselves and as long as we have people by our side.
Also, the narrative thread of the love relationship between the two protagonists is sublime. A forbidden love between a girl from the future and a king from the past becomes one of the cutest love stories I've ever watched.
What is amazing is the cinematography of the movie, the scenery, the setting, I fell in love with them the first time I saw the movie. I laughed, I cried, I was happy for the characters watching the story, which has such a peaceful, but also dramatic vibe. It keeps you in suspense, captivates you and transports you too into the world of the palace.
It's also a movie that teaches you about and honors King Sejong. It shows you that there are strong people who care about the people, who want to make a change.
And the friends you make throughout your life, whether you spend a little or a lot of time with them, change your life forever. It's a movie that teaches you to have more faith in your destiny and to believe that something magical can always happen to you.

This can be watched on Viki as a 10 episode miniseries, or a shorter version as a movie. This review is for the second option.
What happens when a slightly spoiled girl who does not excel at math (and does not want to put out too much effort), is faced with a CSAT test that will determine the rest of her life? She avoids the test of course. By standing in the rain and getting wetter and wetter, wishing to disappear, then jumping into a big puddle of water, and poof, she's gone. Except that she emerges again, this time in fifteenth century Joseon, at the court of the young King Sejong the Great. Mistaken for an erudite boy due to her clothing, she is brought to the attention of the king, who is trying to solve several problems, such as the Pythagorean theorem and a three-year drought, in that order. The young scholar now has to do a whole lot of math, much of it at the tip of a sword, before the young king figures out her gender and... Well, you get the gist. It's a beautifully filmed movie, with lots of wit and sparkle between the protagonists, and never a dull moment, at least in the short version. Highly recommended.

I really enjoyed this and was actually bumbed that it was over so soon :(
The characters are really loveable and made me smile quite a bit.
The costumes were great and so was the acting- The chemistry between the leads was electric. I really love the lead actress- if you haven't seen her previos works I highly reccomend the k daram "Oh my ghost".
This series is of the "feel good " type that makes you feel rozy.
like eating candy.
Don't expect Shakespeare just enjoy the ride. It's really lovely.
Kim Seoul-gi plays Jang Dan-bi who is a high schooler and on the day of an important test she decides to run away but ends up in a time portal which takes her back to the Joseon era. Here she meets king Sejong played by Yoon Doo-joon who is massively impressed with her knowledge and soon develops feelings for her. I believe this was initially released in 10 minute segments as a web drama and I watched it over two 50 minute episodes which may have affected the flow of the drama. The two leads had great chemistry and some funny interactions. Overall a well acted entertaing mini series which is short and sweet.
You live every moment of the story. Its adorable to see the beautiful chemistry between the leads. What hit me the best was the ending that isn't unreal. It is a happy ending but not the one you accept but much better.
