Kali Uchis’ fifth studio album is on its way — and it now has a name. On Monday, the Colombian American R&b star revealed in a video the name of her upcoming LP, Sincerely, which is expected this year.

The clip sees the singer writing the news about the album in a note and sealing it, before walking away in a different, witchy outfit. “I dream of a home that even time will lie down and be still for. A place where everything works out the way it should,” Uchis says in the short video.

Marking Lane’s first special for a major service, The Al Dente Special comes on the heels of self-released specials including Hair Plugs & Heartache and The Advice Special, which the comic released in multiple installments. Comparing his stand-up to catching up with your old friend at brunch, Lane uses his new hour to share a glimpse into his travels, friendships and unique family background. He taped it at Eli and Edythe Broad Stage in Santa Monica last October.

Jessica Kirson is bringing her unfiltered humor to Hulu.

Though a premiere date is being kept under wraps, the veteran comic has inked a deal for her next hour of standup. It marks Kirson’s second special.

“I am honored to be a part of the Disney family and that Hulu has chosen to feature my next special as part of their comedy initiative,” she said in a statement. “People always ask me ‘is it hard to be a female comedian?’ I always say, ‘I don’t know; you should ask them.’”

The news comes as Hulu makes an aggressive push into the standup space, elbowing its way into an increasingly frothy market that’s been dominated by Netflix in recent years. The initiative, which is dubbed “Hularious,” kicks off in November with a new Jim Gaffigan special. Jessica Kirson is teaming up with Hulu for her second stand-up special. She joins the streamer’s “Hularious” lineup, which officially bows in November and also includes comedians Bill Burr, Jim Gaffigan, Roy Wood Jr., Atsuko Okatsuka and Ilana Glazer.

The name and launch date of Kirson’s next special, which will premiere on Hulu domestically and Disney+ internationally, will be revealed at a later date.

Exclusive: Stand-up comic Greg Fitzsimmons announced today that his new special, Greg Fitzsimmons: You Know Me, will premiere on his YouTube channel on Tuesday, August 27.

Filmed at The Comedy Mothership in Austin, TX in November, the special marks his second hour on the heels of 2013’s Life on Stage, which premiered on Comedy Central before moving to Netflix and is now available to stream on Prime Video.

You Know Me finds Fitzsimmons reflecting on 34 years of sobriety, sex with a 57-year-old woman, convincing your children that you’re cool, and combating loneliness on the road. And he realizes, he’s happy where he is.

Fitzsimmons directed the special and also exec produced alongside Matt Schuler. Producers included 800 Pound Gorilla, Jarad Clement and Valentijn Sloot.

A well-respected veteran comic, Fitzsimmons has been working as a stand-up for 35 years and has also thus far put out two half-hour specials for Comedy Central.

While HBO execs aren't tied to the ratings like regular commercial channels, they have to air programs that will keep viewers subscribed. Which of their shows will be cancelled or renewed? We'll have to wait and see.

“Star Trek: Starfleet Academy” is filling out its faculty.

Actor, comedian and writer Gina Yashere (“Bob Hearts Abishola”) has enrolled in the first season of the Paramount+ series as a recurring guest star, to play one of the instructors at the storied institution of higher learning.

She joins Holly Hunter, who leads the series as the captain and chancellor of Starfleet Academy, as well as Kerrice Brooks, Bella Shepard, George Hawkins, Karim Diané and Zoë Steiner as new cadets. Paul Giamatti will also recur as the main villain of the season.

Bob Hearts Abishola co-creator and star Gina Yashere has joined the cast of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy in a recurring role.

Yashere will play an Academy instructor in the Paramount+ series. She joins previously announced cast Holly Hunter, Kerrice Brooks, Bella Shepard, George Hawkins, Karim Diané, Zoë Steiner and Paul Giamatti.

Production is set to begin next month.

There have been many Tomb Raider video games over the decades, giving gamers the chance to play as British archaeologist Lara Croft as she goes on globe-trotting adventures, “searching for lost artefacts and infiltrating dangerous tombs and ruins.” Angelina Jolie played the character in two feature films, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001) and Lara Croft: Tomb Raider – The Cradle of Life (2003). It has finally been announced who will be heading the eagerly anticipated remake of Bergerac, which was announced earlier this April. Irish actor Damien Molony will be playing the iconic leading role of Jim Bergerac, originally played by John Nettles in 1981. Willem Dafoe Named Artistic Director Of Venice Theatre Department

Willem Dafoe has been named Artistic Director of the Venice Biennale’s Theatre Department. Dafoe will hold the role for a two-year term from 2025 to 2026. The appointment was confirmed by the department board, headed by Pietrangelo Buttafuoco. “I was first surprised then happy to receive Pietrangelo Buttafuoco’s invitation to be the Director of the International Theatre Festival of La Biennale di Venezia 2025-2026,” Dafoe said. “I realize that I am known as a film actor, but I was born in the theatre, the theatre trained me and galvanized me. The Orange Is The New Black star is to lead Haunting, a hybrid scripted/unscripted paranormal podcast. The series is told by those who witnessed incomprehensible, extraordinary, and spooky encounters with the dead.

The podcast, which launches on July 9, sees Lapkus play Therésa, a dead influencer from the “other side.” Believing that nothing says lifeless like a paranormal podcast hosted by a mere mortal, Lauren Aka Therésa presents real first-hand accounts and immersive audio to bring listeners face to face with the unexplainable.

The tragic bike-accident death of stand-up comic Kenny DeForest on Dec. 8 has resulted in a new chance at life for five people who have received six of DeForest’s organs, according to DeForest’s family and LiveOnNY, a nonprofit federally designated organ procurement organization.

According to LiveOnNY, six of DeForest’s organs have been successfully transplanted into five people between the ages of 30 and 75. The recipients live in New York, Pennsylvania, Washington, DC and Indiana. A seventh organ is being transported for transplantation.

A registered organ donor, DeForest’s organs that have been transplanted or will be transplanted include his heart, lungs, liver, kidneys and pancreas.

Kenny DeForest, a popular stand-up comic who made appearances on Late Night with Seth Meyers and The Late Late Show with James Corden, HBO’s Crashing and Comedy Central’s Tales From The Trip, died yesterday at a Brooklyn hospital days after a Dec. 8 traffic accident in which his bicycle was struck by a motor vehicle. He was 37.

His death was announced by his friend and fellow comic Ryan Beck, who posted the news on a GoFundMe page that had been set up to assist with medical bills following the accident. According to Beck, DeForest had undergone neurological surgery to remove a piece of his skull and relieve pressure from a brain bleed.

Exclusive: Los Angeles-based Premiere Entertainment Group has acquired worldwide rights to romantic comedy Plan B, starring Emmy-award winner Jamie Lee (HBO’s Crashing) and Jon Heder.

Premiere Entertainment will launch worldwide sales of the film at the upcoming American Film Market with all territories currently available.

Directed by first-timer Brandon Tamburri, from an original screenplay by Tamburri and Jean Monpere, Plan B follows the story of Piper, a young woman who, against better judgment, decides to sleep with a successful businessman and tells him he’s the father of her unborn baby after a one-night stand with her awkward neighbor leaves her pregnant.

Exclusive: Rising stand-up comedian Matteo Lane, who has released a number of YouTube specials, has signed a deal with Studio71.

The move will see the company expand Lane’s reach across digital media and act as his ad sales partner to monetize his content. The deal will see Studio71 distribute his work.

Lane is the latest comedian to work with Studio71, which is growing its stand-up roster; it already works with the likes of Trixie, Trevor Wallace, Bob the Drag Queen, Mayim Bialik, Josh Wolf, Brittany Furlan and Tim Chantarangsu.
