Mercy Road is a thrilling tale about a man named Tom who is trying to save his daughter while being pursued as her abductor. The movie takes place primarily in Tom's truck, with a tight screenplay that adds to the intense and claustrophobic pace. Luke Bracey delivers a strong performance in this high-octane action film, while Toby Jones shines as "The Associate." Look out for Mercy Road in theaters on October 6.
Screen Rant is pleased to present an exclusive clip from Mercy Road, a new thriller from writer-director John Curran. The movie stars Luke Bracey (Interceptor) as a frantic man named Tom, who is on the run while simultaneously trying to save his daughter (played by Martha Kate Morgan). The rest of the world thinks he himself is the one who has abducted her, but instead, he is furiously following orders from shadowy figures in the hopes of keeping her safe.

“My name is Ruby, and I am with my father,” a frantic young woman moans through a voice message. “Everyone just stay away from us.” Well, Ruby certainly has everybody’s attention in director John Curran’s’s intense new film, Mercy Road. Immediately everybody is calling Tom (Luke Bracey of One True Loves and Little Fires Everywhere), whom we meet covered in blood and hopping into his work truck. Thing is, Tom isn’t with Ruby, and he has not abducted her as everyone suspects.
Tom is on the run, however, fleeing from something ominous that occurred, and as he frantically speeds down the road in the dark of night in his truck, he’s bombarded with one call after another. A few of them come from people barking out instructions he must follow — or else. One caller, in particular, known as “the associate,” is a psychopath who kidnapped his daughter because,...

"Tell me what you want!" "Don't ever stop driving." An official trailer is out for an indie crime thriller from Australia titled Mercy Road, the latest film made by director John Curran. Not to be confused with Jim Cummings' Thunder Road. This recently premiered at the Melbourne Film Festival and already opened in Australia this month, with a US release coming up soon. In Curran's thriller Mercy Road – an unrelentingly tense psychological thriller – Luke Bracey plays a flawed everyday man who commits an impulsive and vicious crime. In this ultimate journey to redemption, he soon learns just how far he is willing to go to save his child. The cast includes Huw Higginson, Susie Porter, Alex Malone, Martha Kate Morgan, and Toby Jones. Early reviews are positive, saying "Bracey plays a dad on a mission to save his daughter in this strangely surreal film set mostly in a truck.

Filmmaking rarely travels a straight path, but for “Monster” it was exceptionally twisty. After the legal drama starring Kelvin Harrison Jr. premiered at Sundance in 2018 in the U.S. Dramatic Competition, it’s seen a title change, its first distribution deal fall through, and the original title restored. Producers Tonya Lewis Lee and Nikki Silver say it was all worth it: The movie premiered on Netflix May 7 and was among the top 10 Netflix titles in the U.S. last week.
“It has been a long journey, but it has been a really good journey,” Lee said. “It didn’t go the way we thought it would, but ultimately we landed where we were supposed to land. People are seeing it, they’re feeling it, and they’re responding to it.”
“Monster” is based on the 1999 YA novel by Walter Dean Myers, which follows a high school honor student (Harrison) who...

While the first day of spring technically belongs to March, everyone knows that it kicks into high gear in April. To celebrate the changing of the seasons, Hulu is finally bringing back its signature original series for April 2021.
Season 4 of the multiple Emmy award-winning The Handmaid’s Tale premieres on April 28. It’s been awhile since we’ve seen June and her dystopian world. In fact, it’s been so long that our own world decided to endure its own dystopian pandemic in the meantime. Hopefully this series’ return will mean we can keep our political and social collapses on television where they belong.
Aside from The Handmaid’s Tale, Hulu isn’t brining much else to the table in terms of originals this month. Thankfully, the one other original that Hulu has in store for April sounds completely righteous. Sasquatch, the latest docuseries from the Duplass brothers producing team, will cover exactly what the title promises.

Ethan Hawke headlines the biopic, Tesla, having transformed himself—mustache and all—into the once-overlooked, retroactively-revered early 20th century inventor, Nikola Tesla. The indie offering, directed and written by Michael Almereyda, premiered this past January at the Sundance Film Festival, and will make its general release via IFC Films.
Tesla might initially seem like a historical biopic that’s quickly revisiting a topical well, focused on the electrical engineering achievements of Tesla in his famous involvement in the electricity rivalry between Thomas Edison and George Westinghouse. After all, an impressively-cast movie covering that very rivalry, The Current War, just saw its belated wide release this past October. However, viewers get a meta-minded slap about 25 seconds into the film’s just-dropped trailer, proving that there’s more to it than we thought.
With that set, check out the trailer for Tesla just below.
As the official Tesla logline fully explains of the plot.

The second season of Succession ends with a bang for Jeremy Strong’s Kendall Roy, the troubled second son of a Murdoch-inspired media dynasty built by his imposing father, Logan, played by Brian Cox. Kendall has been selected by his father to become the family’s sacrificial lamb, as a crisis threatens to engulf the Waystar-Royco empire. “One meaningful skull to wave,” as Logan puts it, to protect the family’s control on the business. And, for Logan, Kendall has never had the cutthroat spirit to run the company, an admission he makes as he swings the hangman’s ax down on his own son’s neck.
But after two seasons and a lifetime living in the pillory Logan Roy has constructed to keep his own children in line, that final swing becomes the release that Kendall has longed for, even if he never knew it. At the press conference...

Saban Films has released the trailer for Most Wanted. This is the latest from director Daniel Roby and stars comedian Jim Gaffigan alongside Josh Hartnett. The movie tells the real-life story of journalist Victor Malarek who unraveled a twisted drug deal that conspired to have the wrong man sentenced to 100 years in a Thai prison. As the trailer reveals, the story seems to make for something of an intense ride with high stakes.
The trailer kicks off with Josh Hartnett, who is playing Victor, investigating what is referred to as "Operation Goliath." Hartnett plays a little bit of hardball before receiving a warning that he shouldn't be printing anything about the case in question, which he chooses to ignore. We see that he is met with a great deal of resistance at every turn, yet determination takes over and the story is pursued anyway.
That seems to put a target on his back.

Update with final ranked list: The 15th annual Black List was released Monday, with Ken Kobayashi’s romance screenplay Move On leading the coveted rundown of unproduced screenplays in Hollywood with 29 votes.
The screenplay follows Teddy, who thinks he’s the only living person left in a world where humanity is frozen in time. That is until his ex-girlfriend, Leyna, shows up at his doorstep. Together, they venture to find the cause behind the freeze and in the process, confront the issues that plagued their relationship before it’s too late.

101 Studios has acquired film and TV rights to Paradise Found, the nonfiction book written by Los Angeles Times columnist Bill Plaschke about the small town of Paradise, CA, which was ravaged by the Camp Fire of 2018 but which found hope in its high school football team and longtime coach, Rick Prinz. The distributor-financier is already in the works on a screen adaptation.
The project, also titled Paradise Found, will be produced by sports film and TV regular Mark Ciardi (The Rookie) of Select Films and executive produced by 101’s David Glasser, David Hutkin and Bob Yari.
Prinz said, “11/8/18 at 8:34 Am I sent this text message to the football team- ‘the plan is to practice at 3:00 today. If it is too smoky, we will modify our activity. I will keep you informed if anything changes.’ Eleven minutes later, we were running for our lives. These young men...
