    A Decent Romantic-Drama

This film begins with a young bride by the name of "Suk-hee" (Eun-hie Choi) being told by her new husband "Seung-il" (So-min Seong) that he had been involved with another woman prior to meeting Suk-hee. Not terribly concerned with this, Suk-hee also confesses that she also had a romantic relationship with another man previously as well. However, rather than being fair-minded about this news, Seung-il becomes quite upset and leaves their honeymoon suite that very night. The scene then shifts to four years later with a heart-broken Suk-hee living in her parent's house and seldom venturing outside of her own bedroom. Also, in the house are two of her younger sisters "Moon-hee" (Min-ja Lee) and "Myeong-hee" (Mi-lyeong Jo) along with her younger brother "Gwang-sik" (Gwang-su Park). To that effect, having seen the suffering that her oldest daughter has had to endure, the mother "Mrs. Anh" (Geom-seong Seok) of these three young women is convinced that marriages should be arraigned and not left to the whims of young people blinded by emotion. Conversely, her husband, "Dr. Ko" (Nam-hyeon Choi) has a more pragmatic approach and seeks to blend both of these methods to guide their children into making the right choices. Unfortunately, Mrs. Ahn rejects her husband's advice and, at the first opportunity, severs Moon-hee's relationship with her boyfriend "Jun-cheol" (Hyeon Choe) which, in turn, creates even more turmoil in the family. If that wasn't enough, it soon becomes apparent that Myeong-hee has also become attracted to someone and is experiencing her own set of problems in that regard. Now, rather than reveal any more, I will just say that I initially didn't know whether I would like this movie or not. That said, now that I've seen it, I can honestly say that I was pleasantly surprised at how good it turned out to be. Admittedly, the scenes between Myeong-hee and Dr. Ko's assistant "Yeong-su" (Am Park) were a bit over-the-top and could have used some fine-tuning. Likewise, I didn't especially care for the scenes involving Gwang-sik and his grandfather, "Mr. Ko Sr." (Seung-ho Kim) either, as they seemed rather artificial and unnecessary. In any case, while this may not be the best romantic-drama ever produced, it kept my attention for the most part, and I have rated it accordingly. Slightly above average.
