Martin Villeneuve and
Robert Lepage have met for the first time in 2004 on Cirque du Soleil's KÀ, which Lepage directed. Villeneuve was then working as an art director at the happening local advertising agency Sid Lee, in Montreal. Eight years later, Lepage starred as the holographic cosmologist Eugène Spaak in Villeneuve's feature film debut,
Mars et Avril (2012), a sci-fi drama set in futuristic Montreal. Lepage also stars in Villeneuve's
Les 12 travaux d'Imelda (2022).
