In the past decade, The Legend of Mi Yue has been the only Chinese drama I followed, when it aired locally in Canada. I wasn't able to record it, so every night for six months, I watched it as it aired. I was drawn in by the opening theme song. Every episode maintained the same level of intensity nearly to the end. For a fictional historic epic, it had all the characters were intriguing. While Mandarin is not my mother tongue, I would have given up watching it all together. Despite that, it was not that difficult to keep up with the narrative in the important parts. I have seen enough to understanding it.
With increased irritation, I'm trudging through this dense and boring historical drama hoping something remotely interesting happens, however, it's taking for-fu@king-ver to get plot advancement. It doesn't help that I seem to have developed an intense dislike for, Sun Li, the lead actress who- with all apologies- can't act her way out of a paper bag. I'm sorry but Ms Li's acting is the same in every period drama she's been in. She always does a doe-eyed ingénue who, despite being unfairly treated, goes through life singing kumbaya and has never met a potential enemy she didn't love. Also, she looked her age- mid 30s- and was hardly convincing as some teenager...the men were all old as well. Seriously, who wrote this screenplay? Sigh.
I'll give it a dozen more episodes to see if the pacing and story development move faster otherwise it goes in the dropped category pronto.

Makes me interested in the the warring period of China where so many interesting events came about. It is the 2nd chinese historical drama i watched and loved since 3 kingdoms.
Well, as a Chinese, I have to say this soap opera is just a little more than rubbish. So, if you are not extremely boring, please do not watch it. I really mean it.Most of Chinese audience do not think this one is of good value. The drama is slow and boring, and plots in it is of no logic. And the dresses in it is totally a disaster. I wonder where have they spent all the budget of this drama. Ohh my God! And the spirits of this one is really not noble. I do not want the others to believe that Chinese people are like that,(we are better than the ones in this opera). If you are interested in the culture of China, I recommend you to watch other Chinese drama, called Nirvana in Fire. That one is really of good quality. In fact in Nirvana in Fire, every scene is fantastic and eye-catching. More importantly, that drama is really worth the time you spend on. To sum up, please cherish your time, from avoiding the legend of Miyue

I think I like the TV series because of the teleplay's interesting title "Mi yue zhuan".I really don't know the Chinese history why it has all kinds of stories. In my opinion, I think the Chinese history that it is so easy life and all people live so comfortable and happiness. But the story "Mi yue zhuan" really change my thinking. As the story I prefer to like the Chinese queen "Mi yue". She uses her wisdom and courage to solve thousands of troubles. No matter what trouble she comes across, she always solves it perfect as her experiences and knowledge. Maybe we can study more wisdom as the TV series with "Mi yue". So I am so love the teleplay "Mi yue zhuan" and if you have a love for Chinese history , you can go to watch it. I believe that you must love it also. It'll touch your heart.
