I must also respectfully disagree with the one star review. This show is funny and clever, and completely over the top (in the best possible way). I watched the first episode with little hope, but then found myself binge watching the entire season in one day.
In my opinion, Bridget & Eamon is one of the funniest shows to ever come out of Ireland -- give it a try.

Came across this while searching for 'Irish Comedies' around St. Pat's day here in the states. First episode had me laughing out loud, and it's gotten funnier with each season (working my way through 3 now). Yes, it's silly and ridiculous, which is likely why my wife isn't fond of it, but it's a very funny 'silly and ridiculous' as opposed to just being 'silly and ridiculous.' Perhaps I'd compare it to "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" to a somewhat lesser extreme. The wife isn't too fond of that one either.
Peg and Al move to '80s Ireland, have 3-5 more children, ignore them 99% more, and have sketch show like adventures such as simultaneously performing MacGyver and Golden Girls at the gunpoint of not-IRA, but IRA-adjacent, like how lettuce is part of a taco but is not a taco. The analogy is not supposed to make sense.
The deeper into this series you go, the more they give up on any sitcom continuity and it becomes more like a sketch show with a sitcom thread holding it together. It makes for more ridiculousness but also prevents feeling sad for any of the characters' misfortunes.
Their friends are a hoot, and at first I thought I recognized Frank and the Father, but I was mistaken. I blame Airwolf and Concepta's cleavage. Fun supporting cast, and just a delightful, often outrageous, sketchy sitcom.
I looked up the two leads and was disappointed they haven't done much since! I'd gleefully watch a Season 5 or another project of theirs. If they showed Bridget's brand of cigarettes every time she smoked, they could have funded projects for life.
If you are binge watching the series with some friends, you must take a shot every time they say "choppy-changey".
Subtitles were most welcome.

I am currently watching 3rd season of Bridget and Eamon and have grown to love it. Whether it's Eamons stupidity or Bridget mad notions brings me right back to my childhood. Don't know if an American audience would get this humor but I certainly do and I find even if I'm in bad mood it always makes me chuckle. If you are wondering whether to try this out give it a few episodes as it does grow on you very similar to Farher Ted once you get to know characters
