This simple and compelling narrative makes this an enjoyable movie to watch with or without children. It's subtle, believable and captures the beauty of nature wonderfully (which is refreshing since there is no lack of over-the-top movies out there). This one is a winner. Well done!
White Fang is a dog-wolf hybrid born in the Yukon Territory. It is a long treacherous journey from pup to sleigh dog to abused dog-fighter to family dog back to the wilds.
This is a French animated film that ultimately ended up on Netflix. I actually really like the animation style. It looks old school. I really like the painting looks of the dogs and the natural background. The story is a bit meandering. White Fang goes from one situation to another. It is trying to do most of the book which is probably more better as a series. Each living situation could be one season. As a movie, this does disrupt the flow.

Actually I give a 7.5, is a very good movie, I love the animation, that style oil painting was very good, very good story, the first hour of the movie I found it very entertaining and peaceful, the only problem I have with this film are the last 30 minutes you start finding problems in the script and the story is no longer completely entertaining, still I am satisfied with the movie and is one of the best animations of the 2018 so far.
Without judging it by how faithful it is to the source material, I'd say White Fang does a good job as a movie. It may not be the conventional family film, as it takes a slower and more dramatic path in its story telling with less dialogue and a stylized but realistic animation style.
Sit really depends on how much you like the book and how you like your animation. This is not for everyone, but I mostly enjoyed its approach towards telling its story of this wolf-dog growing up and being thrown around between different kinds of people good or bad and how he copes with it.
Some times there is a little uncanny valley tendecies in the human designs, but the backgrounds when fully shown look really nice and grand. And if you're kind of an emotional person like me, you'll probably shed a tear here and there.

I wanted to like this film more than I did, as the general story, theme and atmosphere were quite nice, but there were some flaws that I can't get away from and have to take into account for my rating.
I'd say the biggest one for me was the animation. Quite a bit of it felt quite jerky and unnatural, and the emotions in the human faces were lacking. A lot of the time it felt like I was watching video game cutscenes rather than a film. The words even seemed to be quite out of sync a lot of the time. Fortunately there was quite a bit more emotion coming from White Fang.
The other main criticism I have is that some things just didn't make much sense. The only example I'll mention is when Maggie is suddenly anxious when she apparently forgets that she left White Fang with the chickens, only a couple of minutes after she was talking about it with her husband. It may seem minor but it can still affect the viewing experience.
Overall I'd say it was a nice Friday evening watch but I'll probably not watch it again.

- TriviaBeauty Smith plays less of a wide role in the original novel. Weedon Scott offers to purchase White Fang from him, but Beauty refuses and tries to steal the wolf back. However, White Fang turns on Beauty and attacks him.
