My son has Down syndrome and is 6 months old. This show helps me so much. Seeing the parents talk about their experiences, seeing their children be successful- this show is so important and special to me, and a lot of other parents in the Down syndrome community that I know. Society views DS as an "illness" and quite literally treats people with DS like they're not human. It's awful and unacceptable. This show gives an insight on DS that is really important. I really hope they come out with another season!

I don't usually rate shows/movies a 10/10 unless they are both (nearly) flawless and socially important. I saw commercials for "Born This Way" on A&E before watching it and was very fearful that it would be exploitative but it is not. This show is incredibly educational, thoughtful, and well-made. There are scenes and topics that may not be for the faint of the heart but that is what makes this show, and it's cast, so special and unique. It is very real. In one episode, a viewer can almost assuredly feel an entire spectrum of feelings and emotions for the characters. The cast and their families have an unfiltered charm that is often lacking in 'reality' TV. I found myself laughing hysterically with the cast during one segment before almost being in tears during the next segment. The show is a perfect balance of genuine, heartfelt, and funny moments mixed with incredibly difficult (and sometimes sad) topics that most viewers may never think about if it weren't for this show.
"Born This Way" is an incredibly thoughtful and socially important show with a cast that is impossible not to love.

I have an 11yo son with down syndrome and I'm so inspired by the young adults on this show!! Watching this group of wonderful and determined individuals makes me smile and brings me joy!! I think Elena and John both have such a great sense of humor, I so enjoy their positive energy and laughter!! I've enjoyed watching Christina and Angel's beautiful love story blossom. I love how Sean wears his heart on his sleeve and has no fear expressing himself!! Steven seems like such a sweetheart, Megan and Rachel have a strong sense of who they are and what they want to be!! Rocco reminds me of my son when he was little, just melts my heart!! All of the individual parents on the show are remarkable warriors and inspire me so much!!!!
I came across this show in an "let's see what the Kardashian trash is up to" moment. Reality shows are not what they used to be. One episode in, and this show had me hooked. THIS is what reality TV should be. It's an insight into people who aren't famous or popular. It's an educational experience in regards to people that aren't exactly like me in everyday life. In the U.S. we have an issue with ignorance and bias. I don't know anyone with DS, and it's so refreshing to learn about people that were born just a little different, but still amazing. There is such an amazing display of strength, fortitude, and "we're people too!" on this show.

what a great show!! it is so great and awesome! I love that it shines a light on the down syndrome community. All the people in it are so sweet and awesome and you really want them to accomplish their dreams and go against what the world says that they can't do. It also some very funny moments as well. I will always love this show and it will always have a special in my heart. Down syndrome people can do anything anyone else can do.
