Action star Vin Diesel has quietly revealed the first footage from his upcoming (and long-awaited) sequel, Riddick 4. Officially titled Riddick: Furya, the sci-fi action follow-up will explore the mysterious origins of Diesel’s title character, who started life as a mysterious intergalactic convict way back in 2000’s Pitch Black. The lore has since greatly expanded, with Riddick: Furya expected to bring back on of Diesel’s best characters for a cinematic epic.
While the footage doesn’t show too much (you can check it out below), it does find Diesel back in the black goggles and sporting the kind of look of repressed rage that the character is known for. Set to be written and directed once again by David Twohy alongside creators Jim and Ken Wheat, the sci-fi action sequel not only finds Diesel as the lead but also as a producer on the project. As well as this brief glimpse,...

Dungeons & Dragons enthusiast and action movie superstar Vin Diesel combined his two favorite things for this panned fantasy action movie, and it’s coming to free streaming. Released back in 2015, The Last Witch Hunter takes inspiration from a character that Diesel himself made for his Dungeons & Dragons campaign, and follows Kaulder, who manages to slay the all-powerful Witch Queen some 800 years ago. But, before her death, she curses the warrior with immortality, separating him from his beloved wife and daughter in the afterlife.
The Last Witch Hunter is directed by Breck Eisner and written by Cory Goodman, Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless. The fantasy action flick stars Rose Leslie, Elijah Wood, Michael Caine, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, and Julie Engelbrecht alongside Diesel, and is all set to land on free streaming platform Tubi on April 1. While Vin Diesel can rest easy on the Fast & Furious franchise alone, the gravely-voiced, muscular star is looking ahead to other projects while Fast X – Part 2 looks to cap off the long-running series. Diesel took to his Instagram this morning to update his followers after attending the Oscars. The Oscars would start their broadcast with a loving tribute to Los Angeles following the devastating wildfires that surged throughout the residential areas. The montage of movie clips showcasing the city featured a snippet of Furious 7 and Diesel gave recognition in his post, “By the way, shout out to the Oscars for starting their whole show with a clip from Fast Seven…”
Diesel would use his latest post to run down the gamut of projects that he’s been developing. The Fast X star posted, “One day after the Oscars and I was back to work early… helping my friends...

Riddick, who has since been featured in two sequels — The Chronicles of Riddick and Riddick — and will be seen once again in Riddick: Furya, which started filming last summer. Aside from the Fast & Furious franchise, it’s the live-action role Vin Diesel has played the most, and it’s also one of the roles that’s been the most meaningful to him. When he was cast in Pitch Black, he wasn’t yet a Hollywood superstar; at the time the film was released, he told us he understood he probably wasn’t anybody’s first choice for the film, so he had to fight hard for it. The divisive sci-fi movie that made Vin Diesel an action hero has now found a new streaming home. Released back in 2000, Pitch Black features a star-making turn from Diesel, and launched the now fan-favorite Riddick franchise, introducing Diesel as the mysterious Richard B. Riddick, a former soldier-turned-mercenary-turned-criminal who finds himself crash landing on an alien planet inhabited by monsters who thrive in the dark. Oh, and an eclipse is coming.
Directed by David Twohy and co-written by Twohy and brothers Ken and Jim Wheat, Pitch Black features Radha Mitchell, Cole Hauser, Claudia Black, and Keith David as some of the other crew members who come to rely on Diesel’s untrustworthy antihero to get them off the planet alive. Which he may just be able to do thanks to his “shine jobbed” eyes, which enable him to see in the dark. Pitch Black is now available to stream on Prime Video in the U.

Fast and Furious and Riddick star Vin Diesel has his sights set on another heavy-hitting action franchise, with the actor taking to social media to tease his role in the upcoming adaptation of the classic toy game Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots. First announced back in 2021, the Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots movie will see Mattel Films team up with Universal Pictures and Vin Diesel's One Race Films for this live-action adaptation of the beloved toy, which finds players taking control of two dueling robot boxers and smashing buttons until one of their heads comes off.
While it doesn’t initially seem like Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots has the depth needed for a movie, it’s likely that the adaptation will be akin to something like the 2011 sci-fi action outing, Real Steel. It is not yet known whether Vin Diesel will play a human or a robot in the movie,...

Germany’s film and TV industries will kick off 2025 with an overhaul to the country’s funding system for productions that, besides providing a local boost, is also good news for Hollywood.
The German parliament on Friday, in its last session before being dissolved, pushed through a watered down version of the country’s long-gestating new film funding law that will basically streamline the process through which local productions get subsidies that are financed by various levies, including on movie admission tickets.
The still partly provisional new law also raised Germany’s existing cash back production grant by 5% to 30%, which “makes Germany more competitive for incoming productions,” says producer Philipp Kreuzer, who is among the founders of Munich-based Penzing Studios and has been servicing Hollywood productions such as the second season of Nicole Kidman-starrer “Nine Perfect Strangers” and “Cliffhanger 2″ (pictured above).

Vin Diesel gained recognition for his action roles, and another one of his famous franchises is heading to streaming. Starting Jan. 1, Peacock will add Pitch Black, The Chronicles of Riddick, and Riddick. The franchise kicked off in 2000 and has another film in development.

It's a bad day to be a Xander Cage fan. xXx 4 has just received a frustrating update from franchise star Ruby Rose.
Speaking with Screen Rant to promote her new movie Dirty Angels, Rose shared that it has been some time since she heard anything new regarding xXx 4. "I haven't heard anything. I haven't heard anything since 1974," she laughed. "No, I don't know. I would hope so because I would love to work with that cast and crew again. [They're] incredible people." As for what is holding xXx 4 up, Rose believed that "Vin [Diesel]'s busy doing lots of Fast and The Furious 312 and I don't know, but that would be, that was another really fun mission movie, I guess might've been my only other real mission movie, but very different tonally than Dirty Angels."

Vin Diesel’s long-awaited Xander Cage 4 gets a disappointing update from a star of the franchise. The first xXx was an over-the-top hit in 2002, with Diesel at the center of the ridiculous Rob Cohen-directed action. That movie’s $277 million worldwide gross guaranteed a sequel, but Diesel himself elected not to come back for xXx: State of the Union, which instead starred Ice Cube. After torpedoing the second xXx movie by bailing out (box office sagged to $71 million without him), Diesel made amends with his 2017 Xander Cage return, which grossed $346 million, spurring hopes of xXx 4.
It's now been over seven years since xXx: Return of Xander Cage graced movie screens, and it's looking like there may never be a follow-up, as franchise star Ruby Rose just shared a disappointing status update on the would-be action sequel, in an exclusive interview with ScreenRant. Vin Diesel is (fast and) furiously moving through a bevy of new creative projects. There’s Fast X: Part 2, the second installment of Fast X, which arrives in 2026. Meanwhile, Mary director D.J. Caruso, who worked with Diesel on xXx: Return of Xander Cage, is reportedly taking on another Diesel franchise offering, xXx 4, which has yet to head into production. Recently, Caruso and Diesel haven't hidden their immense appreciation for each other.
In early 2024, Diesel captured attention after posting an Instagram comment about Caruso, mentioning how his daughter, Hania Riley Sinclair, was moved to tears when she read a script Caruso gave him to consider. “My oldest daughter read the script that D.J. sent to me, thinking that it would fall into The Pacifier bracket,” the star wrote. “She cried… I asked her why she cried, and she said because the story of a brother and sister rang true for her,...

Fast & Furious 11 is finally revving up after a short delay, but is it truly the end of the series? The Fast & Furious movie franchise is one of the oddest success stories of the 21st century, evolving from a goofy Point Break riff to a billion-dollar series. The cliffhanger ending of Fast X set up further outings, including two planned sequels and a Dwayne Johnson-fronted spinoff. The mid-credits scene featured the shock return of Johnson to the mainline saga and one that established a solo movie between Hobbs and Jason Momoa's villain Dante Reyes was incoming.
The underperforming box office of Fast X cooled the original plan for both Fast 11 and Johnson's solo film adventure. There have been few concrete updates about Hobbs & Reyes, which had been set to bridge the gap between Fast X and 11. Now Vin Diesel's Instagram posts have confirmed the next sequel is...

Fast and Furious star Vin Diesel has carved out a legacy as a blockbuster action hero, but not all of his efforts in the genre have been as well-received as that multi-billion-dollar box office franchise. And now, one of those efforts is getting ready to stream for free. The movie in question is Diesels 2003 vigilante action thriller A Man Apart, which caused a pretty major divide between audiences and critics upon release, and finds the Riddick star leading the way as an undercover DEA agent on a violent vendetta.
Directed by F. Gary Gray of Law Abiding Citizen, Straight Outta Compton, and The Fate of the Furious fame, A Man Apart was criticized for its clich approach, as well as its inability to balance both action and drama in a satisfactory way. All of which resulted in a score of just 10% on Rotten Tomatoes. On the flip side, audiences were more taken with Diesels brooding,...

If you actually give it some thought, The Chronicles of Riddick is a truly fascinating science fiction series. The Chronicles of Riddick trilogy has a strong fan base and undoubtedly helped its main actor, Vin Diesel, establish himself as a proper action star. However, it never became a mainstream hit, although it has, throughout the years, become a cult classic.
The stories of the 28th-century antihero Riddick are at the heart of the series, which was developed by brothers Ken and Jim Wheat. Three full-length films and one animated short have been released since the series debut in 2000, and while many thought that the franchise was over, we are soon going to return to the world of Riddick.
As you probably remember, we have recently reported on the production of Riddick: Furya, the upcoming fourth live-action movie in the franchise, having received some new information and images. In this report,...

Now that Vin Diesel has pretty much turned Fast & Furious Dominic Toretto into a full-blown superhero, Im less excited about his true sci-fi hero, Riddick. Diesel is currently hard at work on a fourth Riddick movie, Riddick: Furya, which has been in various stages of development for over a decade now. David Twohy, the writer-director behind the first three films, has once again penned the script and will once again direct the project. Theres no confirmed release date for Riddick: Furya, but Diesel has teased that itll explore Riddicks origin story.
Ive always thought it was really cool that Diesel leveraged Universals desire to have him make a cameo appearance in The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift to score the rights to the Riddick character. This has meant that Diesel has complete ownership of the Riddick franchise and, as a result, complete creative control of his big-screen outings.

The Chronicles of Riddick is a very interesting sci-fi franchise if you look at it. It never became a cult classic mainstream title, but The Chronicles of Riddick franchise has a solid fanbase, and the franchise as a whole definitely helped its star Vin Diesel in his career, establishing him as a star.
The franchise was created by brothers Ken and Jim Wheat and centers on the tales of the 28th-century antihero Riddick. Since the series’ launch in 2000, three full-length movies and one animated short have been released.

The Riddick movies may not have been critically acclaimed, but they gained a loyal fanbase and became cult classics in their own right. Each Riddick movie has its own strengths and builds a compelling world within the story's universe. While the Riddick movies can be enjoyed as standalone adventures, they are best experienced in the order in which they were released.
The Riddick movie franchise was a major stepping stone in Vin Diesel's career, but without consistency in the titling of the three installments, their viewing order is not immediately clear. Starting in the year 2000 with the sci-fi/horror film Pitch Black, the series quickly found its star in the form of its antihero, Richard Riddick (Diesel), and the franchise continued with additional movies. Though the Riddick movies have received mixed critical reactions, the series gained a loyal fanbase and its films became cult classics in their own right.

Long before Vin Diesel shot to international stardom with the Fast & Furious franchise in 2001, the actor got a bizarre but memorable recruitment call from Steven Spielberg. Following his prolific work in the 1995 short drama Multi-Facial, and the 1997 feature film Strays, the actor surprisingly came under the radar of Hollywood’s most acclaimed filmmaker in 1998.

According to Vin Diesel’s interview with Yahoo Movies, the actor recalled how he was notified by his agent about his role in Steven Spielberg’s 1998 war film Saving Private Ryan. Initially expecting the usual process of audition, Diesel was later informed that Spielberg had specially written a role for him that required no audition.

Vin Diesel has worked his way up to being one of Hollywood’s A-list movie stars and has starred in some big franchises including The Fast and Furious, XXX, and The Chronicles of Riddick. He has also voiced Groot in the MCU. Outside of acting, Diesel is also a big film nerd and interestingly a big fan of Dungeons & Dragons.

Paul Walker was one of the biggest sweethearts in Hollywood’s entire entertainment industry, especially renowned for starring in masterpieces from the Fast and Furious franchise. But after starring in only six movies from the fan-favorite saga, the late actor faced his unexpected death at the age of 40 on one blurry night due to a brutal accident in his Porsche.

However, while many fans know that the cause of his death was the collision of his car with a curb, tree, and a light pole, what they don’t know is that this is only something scratching the surface of what actually happened that night. If anything, the autopsy reports brought forward such horrors from the incident that even Fast and Furious fans would be scared to drive a car after reading it.

Fast 11 marks the end of Vin Diesel's time with Fast & Furious - Riddick 4: Furya will take its place as the next major franchise. Riddick: Furya is currently in pre-production and expected to release in 2027, right after Fast 11 ends the Fast & Furious series. Diesel, passionate about Riddick, aims for a successful new franchise after the underperformance of Fast 10 at the box office.
The return of a beloved Vin Diesel franchise is set to happen at the perfect time. Since the original The Fast and the Furious film was released in 2001, it has gradually become one of the most profitable movie franchises of all time, earning more than $7.4 billion at the worldwide box office over the source of its 10-part series. With the upcoming Fast 11 currently being considered as the final installment of the franchise, leading man Vin Diesel will need to find another major movie series to attach to.

The (Extra Hot) Cannes Hot List: Nic Cage, Kristen Stewart and Paul Rudd Films to Heat up the Market
The Cannes Film Festival is bracing for what could be its most disruptive edition in decades, with freelance festival employees threatening strike action that could derail the opening night ceremony, and the entire French industry on tenterhooks ahead of an expected new wave of #MeToo allegations against some of the country’s biggest stars, including a few with films in competition this year.
Well, at least the market looks promising. Judging by the number and quality of projects pitching at the 2024 Cannes film market (May 14-22), this could be a banner year for the Marché du Film.

Vin Diesel's First Movie Franchise Making A Return After 11 Years Is Exactly What He Needs Right Now
Riddick: Furya will be the return of Vin Diesel's long-running franchise after 11 years. Vin Diesel needs a new franchise since the Fast & Furious series is ending. The upcoming Riddick installment explores Furya, Riddick's home planet.
Recently, it was announced that Vin Diesel's first franchise, The Chronicles of Riddick will return to screens after 11 years with Riddick: Furya. The timing couldn't be better as the Fast & Furious series is coming to an end. Despite having only three movies so far, The Chronicles of Riddick films have been the longest-running franchise of Diesel's career. The sci-fi franchise will serve as a great replacement for the Fast & Furious movies, allowing Diesel to show off his action skills while also expanding on the lore of his iconic anti-hero Richard Riddick.

You might think that Vin Diesel would be mostly focused on finishing the Fast & Furious franchise at this point, with the reportedly last movie still sitting in the development garage. But it appears another of his recognizable characters has overtaken Dom Toretto in the race to screens – Richard B. Riddick. Riddick: Furya is now in line to shoot in August.
The Riddick character originated in 2000's Pitch Black, which saw him and a group of survivors of a crashed spaceship tackling bloodthirsty critters that hunt by night — as the planet they're stranded on is thrust into a long night by an eclipse. He was further explored by 2004's The Chronicles Of Riddick and 2013's Riddick.
Writer/director David Twohy, who has been on the Riddick journey alongside Diesel since the first movie, is back for Furya, which sees the character finally return to his home world, a place he barely remembers at this point.

It was created by brothers Ken and Jim Wheat and focuses on the stories of the antihero character Riddick in the 28th century. The series started in 2000 and we have since seen three feature films and one animated short. Today, we can confirm that a fourth feature film, titled Riddick: Furya, is going to be made with Diesel reprising his role and filming starting later this year!
The new Riddick film will be a continuation of the series, which is definitely great news for fans. It has been a while since the last film appeared, and while a sequel had been confirmed,...

Vin Diesel will be back for Riddick: Furya, ahead of filming Fast & Furious 11: more on the story right here.
Outside of the original Pitch Black movie, that introduced Vin Diesel as the character of Riddick on the big screen, there’s an argument that the terrific videogame The Chronicles Of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay is as good as the franchise has got on screen.
Certainly 2004’s mega-budget The Chronicles Of Riddick stumbled a little, and then a third movie, 2013’s Riddick, financially was more rewarding but still not top tier.
Nonetheless, Vin Diesel is not discouraged, and he’s reuniting with director David Twohy for a long-mooted fourth cinematic adventure for the character of Riddick. The film in question will be called Riddick: Furya, and the assumption was that it was going to slot in around production for the upcoming Fast & Furious 11.

Vin Diesel is officially returning to the world of Pitch Black and galactic antihero Riddick, the sci-fi action franchise that gave the actor his first major leading role.
Riddick: Furya, which was announced in February 2023, is now moving full steam ahead toward an Aug. 26 shoot date, producers announced Monday. Diesel stars and produces the film, which reteams him with David Twohy, the filmmaker who has directed all of the franchise’s previous entries. Furya will film in locales such as Germany, Spain and the U.K.
Pitch Black, released by Universal in 2000, introduced Diesel as a captured criminal who, along with several other passengers, crash lands on a planet where sundown unleashes feral monsters. While the first one was made for $23 million, 2004’s The Chronicles of Riddick cost over $100 million, as the movie went big in scope. The route failed to excite audiences and it seemed like the movie series was over.

The route failed to excite audiences and it seemed like the movie series was over.

Vin Diesel will suit up again as Richard B. Riddick this summer. The “Fast and Furious” star is set to begin production on “Riddick: Furya,” the fourth installment of the “Riddick” franchise, on Aug. 26.
The film, which follows 2000’s “Pitch Black,” 2004’s “The Chronicles of Riddick” and 2013’s “Riddick,” will shoot in Germany, Spain and the U.K.
In “Riddick: Furya,” Riddick finally returns to his homeworld, a place he barely remembers and one he fears might be left in ruins. But there, he finds other Furyans fighting for their existence against a new monster — and some of these Furyans are more like Riddick than he could have ever imagined.
The project reunites Diesel with writer and director David Twohy (“The Fugitive”). Diesel will produce under his One Race Films banner alongside Samantha Vincent. Thorsten Schumacher for Rocket Science and Lars Sylvest for Thank You Studios will also produce alongside Joe Neurauter.
