Vermin

For a short film reduced at two minutes, intensity of story and fine use of classic recipe of horror are the basic tools. Each works in beautiful manner in this case. A single woman, a noise as echo of her knock for put the painting on wall. The fear. The revelation. It is difficult to say if it is a good or a bad film. It is only correct. And that could be the significant virtue.

Despite genuinely good cinematography and a solid central performance, 'Vermin (2015)' is ultimately a little underwhelming. It isn't especially bad, don't get me wrong. It has one relatively solid scare and is, as I mentioned, a well-made movie overall. Its payoff is a tad disappointing, though, and there isn't all that much to it. Still, it builds an appropriate sense of atmosphere and is actually quite compelling for what it is. It isn't surprising, but it's a decent experience. 6/10.
