Nearly 70 Million Viewers Watched ABC News-Hosted Debate Between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump
Image
Early estimates show that nearly 70 million viewers tuned into the ABC News-hosted presidential debate between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump on Tuesday, September 10, more than 15 million viewers higher than the Thursday, June 27 CNN-hosted debate between Trump and President Joe Biden.

Kamala Harris, Donald Trump

ABC News

On ABC, “Kamala Harris and Donald Trump – ABC News Presidential Debate” averaged 19.049 million viewers, making it the most-watched debate on any network in at least 16 years, and ranked as the highest-rated broadcast across broadcast and cable among all key sales demographics, including Adults 25-54 (6.596 million), the demographic most important to news programming, and Adults 18-49 (5.663 million).

Factoring in Hulu, Disney+, ABC News Live, and the ABC Owned Television Stations apps, the debate added another +7.4 million viewers, bringing the overall total to 26.4 million viewers across the Disney-owned linear and streaming platforms. Disney notes that the debate was the most-viewed...

Harris-Trump Debate Outperforms Biden Debate in Viewership, Attracting 67.1 Million Viewers
Image
Update: Nielsen’s full measurement of Tuesday night’s presidential debate between vice president Kamala Harris and former president Donald Trump was strong, with 67.135 million viewers tuning in via multiple networks — led by ABC News, which handled the debate. That number was up 31% from the 51.266 million who tuned in to Trump’s debate with president Joe Biden (from CNN) in June, before the latter dropped out to endorse Harris.

Tuesday’s total accounts for telecasts across ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC, Merit Street, Scripps News, Telemundo, Univision, BET, CNN, CNN en Español, Fox News Channel, Fox Business, MSNBC, Newsmax, NewsNation and PBS.

Disney’s dispute with DirecTV — which has kept ABC and its other networks blacked out on the satellite service — didn’t appear to have a major impact on the Alphabet net’s numbers, as ABC News won the night with 19.049 million viewers — making it the most-watched debate on any network in at least 16 years,...

HBO and Max New Releases: February 2024
Image
Curb Your Enthusiasm returns to Max this month in what’s being called the show’s final season (for now). If you’re not ready for the Larry David-centric comedy series to end, you can binge all eleven of the show’s previous seasons on Max right now before hitting the new episodes.

Tokyo Vice will also be back in February for season 2. Stars Ansel Elgort, Ken Watanabe, Rinko Kikuchi, Rachel Keller, Show Kasamatsu, and Ayumi Ito are joined by Kubozuka and Miki Maya this time around, as Jake Adelstein feels the danger closing in on him. Max also welcomes you to the premiere of the highly acclaimed (and highly depraved) Dicks: The Musical this month, as a couple of self-obsessed businessmen discover they’re identical twins and decided to bring their divorced parents back together.

Here’s everything coming to (and leaving) HBO and Max this month…

Discovery+ Launches CNN Originals Hub
Image
The CNN Originals hub debuted on Discovery+ on Friday, as the new home for the news channel’s streaming library following the abrupt closure of CNN+.

The hub was announced earlier this month, and features over 800 episodes of content from CNN Original Series, CNN Films, and Hln Original Series. Additional content will be added after their linear run on the CNN cable networks.

Some of the original content that appeared on CNN+ has popped up elsewhere. The documentary The Last Movie Stars, about Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward, debuted this summer on HBO Max. Chris Wallace’s talk show, one of the marquee offerings, will return in September on CNN on Sunday nights and on HBO Max.

Among the original library titles offered on the new hub are 1968: The Year That Changed America, American Dynasties: The Kennedys, American Style, Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown (Seasons 1-12), The Bush Years: Family, Duty, Power,...

CNN Originals Hub Launches on Discovery+ with Over 800 TV Episodes
Image
Starting today, Discovery+ subscribers will have access to many of CNN’s most popular evergreen television series, including popular food shows “Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown” and “Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy” and documentaries like “The History of Comedy” and “Diana.” The series can be found under a new CNN Originals hub on Discovery+, the latest addition to the popular documentary-heavy streaming service.

Since WarnerMedia and Discovery merged to become Warner Bros. Discovery earlier this year, CEO David Zaslav has made the consolidation of the conglomerate’s streaming services a top priority. One of his first moves was to scrap CNN+, a streaming service that the company had invested over 100 million into, just a month after it launched. CNN+ primarily focused on content made by CNN personalities that was not strictly news-related. While the service failed to find a significant subscriber base, much of the content produced for it is now...

CNN’s New Originals Slate Includes First Natural History Show, More Travel Fare
Image
When it comes to its original series, CNN has long found a sweet spot in politics and pop culture. Whether the subject is late night TV (The Story of Late Night), or a presidential run (Race for the White House), the channel has continued to expand its slate in those genres.

CNN’s new 2021-2022 slate continues that trend, but it also notably expands into new genres: Specifically into natural history programming with a show called Patagonia (like you would find on the BBC or, yes Discovery Channel), and an expansion of the travel-food-culture programming with Nomad with Carlton McCoy, a genre that began ...

HBO Max Announces Over 150 New Movies/Shows For October
Image
HBO Max is serving up a lot of great new movies this October. Fittingly for the spooky season, the Warner Bros. streaming service is adding a fair few classic horrors to its library next month, but there’s really something for everyone going up – from comedies to romances to sci-fi to superhero films.

Speaking of that last genre, DC lovers will be pleased to note that 2013’s Man of Steel, the movie that kicked off the Dceu, is among the titles arriving on October 1st. Besides that, there’s a bunch of animated DC pics dropping the same day, including Superman/Batman: Public Enemies and All-Star Superman. 2005’s Constantine featuring Keanu Reeves, meanwhile, also debuts on the service from the 1st.

That’s not the only film starring the beloved actor headed to the platform, though, as probably the highlight of October’s haul is the addition of the...

‘Race For The White House’ Trailer: CNN Series Re-Creates Historic Campaign Rannygazoo
On the eve of the Iowa Caucus, and the same day Kevin Spacey appeared in Bankruptcy Court via a recorded presentation to urge Judge Michael Wiles to let Relativity Media out of bankruptcy protection (with Spacey’s agreement to serve as Chairman of Relativity Studios), CNN emailed around the trailer for its Spacey-produced-and-narrated “event” Race For The White House.
