Pára nad rekou

This film has the unusual ability to touch the human experience in a way so often neglected by other films. When other films attempt to capture the lives of musicians they often fail in exacting the emotional sensitivity and purpose of what 'really happens'. But that is where "Steam on The River" succeeds. It is a remarkable tale about the struggle and happiness in each of these men's lives captured through the lens of Remunda and the distinctly intelligent direction of Kirchhoff. I am a lucky man. I was honored to part of this story. By chance and circumstance the lives of one of these brave pioneers and I come together. I met Laco Deczi and I was fascinated by him, his art, his music and his passion for life. That passion he gave to me and I followed him into the unknown world of Jazz (a dangerous word) and music. As an American, who only has known freedom, I cannot imagine the hardship of Communism and loss of personal liberty. I find my association with Laco and his story to be humbling and one of great personal joy. The film is about life. A life few people would ever live but most importantly many people can understand.
