Just when I though I had moved on with the trashy high school battle anime phase of mine until Chivalry of a Failed Knight an anime series from 2015 pull me back in when I found myself enjoyed this anime way more than I expected. Usually with this kind of fast-food anime the story played out like this: A bland and dense as hell MC that no one care about at first step by step win everybody heart and got himself a group of love interest but this anime on the other hand about 5 episodes in the MC Ikki already got in a love relationship with the first girl he bump into Stella and the rest of the series is about those two overcome the hardship from society and that one of the best thing that ever happen to this anime. Ikki the MC is a cliché character but it very hard not to root for him because he always got the short end of the stick in his entire dreadful life and because all the bad stuff people give him so fricking disgusting that the moment he fight back it put a big smile with maximum satisfaction on my face. Too bad that it never got a second season because I would love to see more of Ikki and Stella love progress more in the future
Yes, it is true there is nothing new under the sun - after all, we've kept reading and watching Shakespeare for over 400 years and haven't gotten bored with that yet - but what is interesting about a story is the way they develop it, particularly with plot and drama. The concept of a failed knight who is trying to work his way up is not novel (rags to riches and so forth), but they do it well enough here to be interesting. Stella and Ikki are neat characters and the plot line centers around them and how they develop their lives, their education, and their relationship, problems we all have at one point or another. Add a little magic and the occasional fight for your life, and you have an interesting story. It's humorous at many points, dramatic at others, and altogether an enjoyable feature to watch.
CoaGK falls in the action, fantasy and romantic comedy categories and does a pretty job with each.
Pros:
Cons:
All in all it really deserves a second season.
Pros:
- Typical tropes have some quality "twists".
- Underdog / non-OP protagonist.
- Good balance of action and story.
- Excellent balance of humor and heart.
- "Bad guys" are a little more flushed out than in other series, and same is true if the "Hero's".
- Consistent Animation.
- Good English Dubbing.
Cons:
- Some heavy fan service.
- A few story points are predicable.
- Occasion heavy cheese factor.
All in all it really deserves a second season.
Dunno, at the begining i thought this is going to be a good series cool fights, i liked the knight system itself, interesting story but the last 2 episodes become so stupid, the plot is so stupid without any reasoning and he just lets them do it, then they offer him a deal which makes no sense at all and he just takes it xD
until then i was hoping for a second season but i actually can see why this isnt going to be continued, same issue like the 7 deadly sins, cool anime itself but so much stuff going down that makes no sense at all ruined this anime for me, i still give it a seven
I know it's common in Anime but I couldn't continue watching this one because the perverted jokes just got too weird and much for my taste
