Resisting norms (and the price to pay)

Ka Bodyscapes is a tribute to the bravery and spirit of resistance of three characters who represent the youth, talent and diversity of India. While we follow their desires and frustrations, we also end up witnessing the crushing power of society through the institutions of police, family and neighbors. It is a big battle but an unfair fight, and the end of the film will leave many spectators sad, bitter, in a cathartic mood.

After watching the film, one will appreciate as well the bold creativity and freedom of the director and actors, who certainly had to experience backlash and censorship.

May Ka Bodyscapes inspire more empathy, support and visibility for women and sexual minorities.

In India, mandatory cuts were required in order for the film to receive an 'A' rating (Restricting the film to an adult audience only); the changes made to the film removed all references to the right wing nationalist political party, RSS, and the saffron flag in all shots of the movie, visual photographs of the RSS founder KB Hedgewar and ideologue MS Golwalkar, a scene in which a female character is shown masturbating and the supposedly objectionable and disrespectful shot of a painting depicting Lord Hanuman carrying books in his hand.
