It reminds the univers created by Franz Kafka. Edgar, a simple butcher in a large pig slaughterhouse. His love for overveight Ginette, a stripper with not significant succes to public. The big day of his proposition ruined by a terrible scene in the cabin of his fiancee.

And the unpleasant consequence of the shock. But Edgar, the opera lover, is not the only victim of sentimental desillusion and brutal reaction of the others . And it can be the fair premise for a sort of happiness - consolation.

I admitt, I love this film reminding small , insignificant kind people crushed by vulgar ones. I love it for the remind of mute films, for admirable performance of Miro Lacasse and for the singing scenes - both, in same measure. Sure, the motif - the basic one - is the identification with the poor Edgar and the more than compassion for this more than a character.
