Sometimes it is hard to live your life "elsewhere". Elsewhere being not the place you were born. Some people like travelling, like being everywhere all at once (no pun intended and not trying to quote a movie title here). But others do like to be in certain places.
The movie is not just about homesickness though. It is about love - about trying to make things work. Being a couple, understanding what needs the other person needs and what has to be done, that both are happy. Well that is the thought behind it at least ... as you can imagine and as life is ... it is not that simple.
If that is enough for you, the movie will tick all the right boxes ... it is a pacing issue for some, a drama for others (no pun intended) or just life as we live it ...

This is a beautifully made movie. The cinematography was extremely impressive with a real sense of early Arthouse meeting with a French New Wave style of direction.
The two characters are clearly in love from the outset and are slowly pulled apart emotionally, culturally and geographically. It's certainly not a conventional 'Hollywood' love story by any means, so probably best to leave the rose tinted glasses off for this one.
It's a love story that is true to itself and occasionally you'll find yourself dragged through the everyday mundane moments that is their life together, but this gives you a truer sense of their reality and the negative impact that external pressures can have on a relationship.
Anyone who's ever been in a relationship will definitely be able to relate to it.

This film came as a real surprise. Though the ending is perhaps a tad predictable, it is made up for by the superb performances from lead actress Maria Dinulescu and lead actor Jonathan Ahmadi. The script is focused and engaging and there are some fantastic shots of Bucharest and surrounding environs. Recommended.
Chemistry between couple was very engaging and realistic. The male lead was at times very frustrating and emotionally stunted. Beautiful soundtrack.
A touching film exploring the turbulence of love as it moves across borders. Fantastic to see such a strong female lead, who really made the role her own.
