Vicious Thunder

I really liked this movie, not your run of the mill fare. Decent production overall, would recommend to anyone who likes action to give it a try. Cool music and weapons, chicks were nice to look at too. The shootout scenes we nicely paced and I got a kick out of the gunfight in the courtroom. Don't see stuff like that to often, reminded me of Stone Cold a bit. Had some good chases and I enjoyed the chemistry between the characters of Rainer and Geils. The assassin chicks didn't say too much, but who needs words when you got something to look at, ha, ha! I did laugh at the license plates, but that didn't distract away from what was going on. Almost everything looked like it came out of 1984. I did notice some flaws, but they were outweighed by the music. Reminded me of a TV movie from the late 70's.

I watched the premiere when it was shown at the Anthony Wayne theater. I thought the blood effects were spectacular and very realistic. I may have been born in the late 80's, but I didn't get to experience the 80's, so this was simply amazing. The action was intense and really keeps you on your toes. The villains have a bad-ass "take no prisoners" vibe about them. The dialogue for certain characters was punchy and at times quite hilarious. Charles Rainer is categorized as one of those bad guys that you love to hate. The twist ending was astounding and very unexpected. The cars used in this film were pretty awesome too. It would have been interesting to have a backstory explained for Charles Rainer and some of the other main characters though. Finally,the soundtrack was brilliant; thus really setting the tone for this film.

I thought the movie plot was pretty solid, the filming quality & acting isn't bad at all. "Vicious Thunder" kinda echoes the feeling of those action/thrillers from 1970s made for TV cinema to having the vibe of those really good action flicks from the 1980s movies. Movies such as "Silent Rage", "Invasion U.S.A." & "Cobra", " which is not at all a bad thing, honestly. "Vicious Thunder" excels very well in the action packed dept. Its definitely not a bore. The story is well written & it doesn't drag, the film is loaded with a lot of adrenaline pumping action sequences that pack a punch, twists & some pulse pounding thrills & along with some pretty good FX effects to it as well. Plus it has a pretty good soundtrack score that sounds like something out of 1984 which it suits, flows very well with the movie.

As a child of the 1980's I have to say this little movie brings me back to the good old days of simple action!

For a time period piece set in 1984, this movie has a lot working for it. The action is believable, the special effects are more than decent and the acting is strong within a good majority of the cast. A few things that this movie reminds me of are Miami Vice, A-Team, and other late 70's, and early 1980's low budget action films. Although the film does not have the resources of a higher budget like "Die Hard" or "Commando", it certainly tries to fill some of those shoes and succeeds where other low-budget movies don't.

The cars, women and weapons are all over this movie making it awesome! Being a fan of all three that really attracted me to this!

The story is very straight forward and well presented with an interesting and unexpected twist at the end. I wish there was more time for some characters to develop, but I did not feel cheated at all. The intensity for survival in a tough situation really gives this movie a nice drive. This is an entertaining action thriller that stays within the realm of believable.

Also one of the highest points of this movie is the music! The soundtrack really provides a back- bone and just like a heart beat it doesn't let up. Many moments are enhanced by its music. If your a big fan of rock/synth like Tangerine Dream and Van Halen (Diamond Dave years) your going to want to get the soundtrack for this movie. I was very glad to see that this movie has a soundtrack release. There's a lot of soul and energy in the score.

Some scenes that really stood out for me, but will not give anything away are the shower scene, arms dealing scene, courtroom and the rooftop fight scene. Keep an eye out for the big bang!

I recommend this to any action fan, and lover of the 80's!
