    Self indulgent winger

I don't even know how to begin. Of course I feel compassion for the young lad losing his mother in that horrible way. But when you get driven around in a limousine and think painting with your own blood is cool to overcome your whatever, you lose me.

Rays of light during the darkness

I wasn't sure what to expect. This documentary definitely shows how Dave had evolved up to the point of making this film but it also gives you a glimpse into how traumatic experiences remain indelible on the brain, ever tugging at your will to survive. This artistic storytelling was well done and really makes you think about how every single moment shouldn't be trivialized or taken for granted; life's simply too short. Dave's love for his mother (and father, friends and family) are extraordinarily clear. I've gained an even more appreciation and respect for Dave's artistry and humanity.

    Loving Son

I think his mom would be extremely proud of him. Certainly because of what he has accomplished with, and through his music, but mostly because he has faced his demons with drug abuse and came out on the other side. To let addiction take his future, would allow his mother's murderer win by killing the thing she loved most.

I'm not into heavy music, but have gained a new perspective. I admire this young man for standing up for what he believes in. He has taken back his power and now is on a different path. Now he's involved in helping bring awareness to domestic abuse and stays connected with his family.

    I understand the pain

Great movie and, although my Mom didn't have a boyfriend who killed her, she was a wonderful person like Dave's was and crossed the wrong person the wrong way. No one who has ever been through this trauma has the right to call this a whinny self indulgent film. I wish I had the ability to share my pain the way Dave has. Kudos Dave for your strength. Great film.

Questionable Editing/Direction but fascinating man and story.

The minute the director includes himself in the footage, I almost stopped watching. But I'm glad I didn't because the story packs a punch. One can't help but empathize w/Navarro and also admire him for his fortitude. Had this had a more talented director I think it could have been exceptional.
