Returning Citizens

This documentary gave me a good look at the complicated struggles, and flawed systems, for returning citizens as they try to reintegrate back into their communities. By hearing directly from returning citizens and some of their family members, one can see the hardships people face as they transition back into society-even after they've served their time for the mistakes they've made. It was also interesting to hear from staff and supporters of government systems, or organizations that are in place to help make the transition easier. This documentary gives a in-depth perspective, especially if you haven't had a personal connection to a returning citizen. Definitely recommend viewing this film.

I recommend this documentary to those who are interested in learning about the difficulties of people who will be returning to society from being incarcerated. I appreciated all of the different returning citizen's perspectives and that they shared their struggle of returning to society in this film. I think there needs to be more organizations and people to help to make it a better transition for those who have been incarcerated. I am grateful that Extended Grace was able to show this documentary.

It is an open and heartfelt account of the struggle and the strength of returning citizens. Told with grace and compassion, this film reminds us that everyone deserves a second chance and no one should be discounted or tossed away.

As a Returning Citizen myself, I was glad to see that this movie existed. The struggles that are portrayed in this film are very real. I think it's important that we have conversations about topics that concern us all - Prisoner Re-entry is one of them. It's a sad reality that for many, they will only be judged by the worst thing they have ever done.

I work for an organization that tries to create a stigma-free community. We were able to view this movie at our Free Dinner and Movie evening. I think it opened the eyes of many in our community and started a much needed conversation.
