Bienvenue chez les Khumalos (2025)
Meet the Khumalos: A South African Comedy on Netflix
Bienvenue chez les Khumalos (2025)
Looking for a laugh and a way to unwind? Netflix delivers with “Meet the Khumalos,” a family comedy designed purely for your entertainment and enjoyment.

Forget about philosophical quandaries, existential crises, and even, if you can, international politics for a bit.

We know it’s a tall order, but “Meet the Khumalos” is here to help you try.

The Plot

The plot of “Meet the Khumalos” centers on a classic comedic setup: clashing personalities and the unpredictable twists of family life. The story focuses on Grace Khumalo (played by Khanyi Mbau), whose seemingly perfect life in the upscale Umhlanga neighborhood is upended when her former high school acquaintance, Bongi Sithole (played by Ayanda Borotho), moves in next door. The situation escalates when Grace and Bongi are horrified to discover that their respective children have fallen secretly in love. This “forbidden love” element, juxtaposed with the mothers’ animosity, creates a central...

Every Kill From Season 1 of Dexter: Original Sin, Ranked
Image
Dexter: Original Sin is a prequel to the Showtime series Dexter, which expands on the initial killings of the infamous vigilante serial killer. The show features an amateur Dexter Morgan as he attempts to refine his craft of killing bad people. As the series progressed, numerous revelations and surprises surrounded Dexter's extracurricular activities. While Dexter sought victims, his estranged brother, Brian, lingered in the shadows, trying to reconnect with him.

In Dexter: Original Sin, there are significantly fewer kills compared to the original show, Dexter. However, the killings in the first season are crucial to several character arcs. Among the kills in Dexter: Original Sin, some stood out more than others.

Reacher's Alan Ritchson Received Criticism From Christians for Unmarried Intimate Scenes on TV
Image
Alan Ritchson is a huge name in television, with roles in action-filled series like The CW's Smallville, Syfy's Blood Drive, and HBO Max's Titans. He gained worldwide recognition for his role as the title character in Prime Video's action thriller series Reacher, which he has been playing since 2022.

With a long list of acting credits behind him and exciting roles in the future, the actor also admitted fans often don't differentiate him from his roles. The actor is a devout Catholic and often speaks about his faith. However, a new interview with GQ Magazine, he revealed that his acting career has also drawn criticism from Christians for the intimate scenes he plays on TV, particularly on Reacher.

Reacher Season 3's Funniest Action Scene May Be Alan Ritchson's Greatest Moment Yet
Image
This post contains spoilers for "Reacher" season 3.

As a man who (almost) always towers over everyone else in a room, Jack Reacher (Alan Ritchson) gets into more fights than the average person. When he's not busy living as an ultra-minimalist vagabond, Reacher routinely runs into bad guys and straight-up villains, which is when he lets his fists do the talking. The first two seasons of "Reacher" feature a couple of fight scenes that are a cut above the rest, including season 1's stairwell sequence in which he breaks a thug's fingers with a bicycle wheel and strangles the dude with his tie while leaping off the stairwell. And of course, we have season 2's memorable showdown between Reacher's team and a deadly biker gang, where things get really bloody when Reacher yanks a biker off his vehicle and breaks off another's limbs with a steel pipe.

Season 3 of "Reacher" has...

Dexter: Original Sin Finale Review: A Predictable Ending for the Prequel
Image
Quick LinksDexter: Original Sin Finale Does What the Prequel Came to DoDexter: Original Sin Episode 10 Feels AnticlimacticDexter: Original Sin Has an Imperfect Ending

The following contains major spoilers from Dexter: Original Sin Season 1, Episode 10, "Code Blues," now streaming on Paramount+ with Showtime and debuting Sunday, Feb. 16 on Showtime.

The Dexter: Original Sin finale is an ending, and that's pretty much the best way to describe it, too. Season 1, Episode 10, "Code Blues" offers nothing revelatory or any reason for fans to come back for more. It simply accomplishes its mission of wrapping up the specific storylines that the Showtime prequel has introduced, and that it does in relatively satisfying fashion.

"Code Blues" picks up mostly where Episode 9, "Blood Drive" left off, and compared to that episode, this one is relatively tame. It's not the kind of massive event that audiences expect from TV season finales -- and that may...

10 Underrated Horror Series That Were Cancelled After a Single Season
Image
Too often, great TV shows -- particularly horror shows -- are gone before they even have a chance to shine. It's often one of the most frustrating things about being a fan. A series will come along with a fresh perspective, compelling characters, and just enough scares to keep you hooked, only for the network to pull the plug after just one season, with either storylines and mysteries left unresolved or the potential for more standalone stories cut short. Horror shows do seem to be particularly vulnerable to this phenomenon, often getting the axe before they can sink their teeth into a loyal audience.

Many horror series were, in fact, canceled after just a single season, despite having the potential to become cult classics. These series may not have had the longest runs, but their creativity, ambition, and ability to unsettle viewers left an unforgettable impression. From grindhouse-inspired gorefests to cerebral nightmares,...

He appeared in several Abercrombie & Fitch catalogues and had a notable appearance on American Idol in 2004. Following this, he decided to pursue a career on the screen that relied on more than his looks.

It was landing the role of Arthur Curry, Aka Aquaman, in Smallville, a year later that kick started his rise to prominence. Following subsequent appearances on hit shows like CSI: Miami and 90210, Ritchson eventually found his way to being cast in lead roles. 5 Years Before Reacher Megastardom, Alan Ritchson's First Action Leading Role Was Grindhouse For Mad Max Fans
Image
Five years before Alan Ritchson became a star following the massive success of Reacher, he secured his very first lead action role in a wild grindhouse series in the vein of Mad Max. Starting out in modeling, Alan Ritchson initially gained some recognition as a contestant on American Idol in 2004, and then went on to play Aquaman for four episodes on the hit series Smallville, with his first appearance in 2005. His role as Thad Castle in Blue Mountain State showed the hilarious acting chops Ritchson possessed, but he has been mainly relegated to action projects.

After a string of mostly supporting characters throughout his career, in both TV and film, Alan Ritchson became a main character in the Max series, Titans, playing the superhero Hawk. After that, his years of grinding and hard work paid off in spades, as Reacher for Amazon Prime became a mega-hit, catapulting Ritchson into superstardom.

12 Monkeys Guaranteed Todd Stashwick A Spot In Season 3 Of Star Trek: Picard
Image
On "12 Monkeys," the 2015 TV series based on Terry Gilliam's 1995 feature film, actor Todd Stashwick played a character named Theodore Decaon, the leader of a dangerous band of scavengers and outlaws in the year 2043. Deacon only appeared occasionally throughout the show's first season, becoming a proper regular character for its remaining three. "12 Monkeys" was developed by Terry Matalas, who was previous a writer on "Star Trek: Enterprise" and "Nikita," and who would go on to write and/or showrun Syfy's "Blood Drive" and the network's new "MacGyver" series. Matalas is currently the showrunner for the newest season of "Star Trek: Picard." Not incidentally, Stashwick also appears on it.

On "Picard," Stashwick plays the gruff and plainspoken Capt. Liam Shaw, commander of the U.S.S. Titan-a. Unlike previous starship captains on "Star Trek," Capt. Shaw has no interest in being friendly with his crew. He doesn't establish trust,...

‘Sick’ Review: Pandemic-Set Horror Movie Can’t Quite Hack It
Justin Benson
It’s been strange to discover how many filmmakers have willfully ignored the fact that, for a couple of very recent years, the planet Earth was completely consumed by a deadly pandemic that killed millions of people, tanked our economies, transformed social interactions, and probably changed life as we know it forever. Most movies and TV shows are happy to pretend those years never happened, and have never interrupted the flow of their characters’ lives. But horror filmmakers — who work fast, work cheap, and have carte blanche to confront our most uncomfortable anxieties — are the exception.

The “Lockdown Wave” of filmmaking, with productions that took place in the midst of the pandemic or its immediate aftermath, has already yielded fascinating results. Films like “Host” nimbly explored themes of shared cultural responsibility, while Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead’s “Something in the Dirt” tackled broader existential dilemmas. It seems only fitting that Kevin Williamson,...

Conan The Barbarian TV Series In Works At Netflix
Image
Exclusive: Netflix has put in development an epic live-action series based on Conan, the iconic sword-and-sorcery character created by writer Robert E. Howard, I have learned.

I hear the project, from Fredrik Malmberg and Mark Wheeler’s Pathfinder Media, is the first in a deal between Netflix and Conan Properties International, owned by Malmberg’s Cabinet Entertainment. The pact gives Netflix the exclusive option to acquire rights to the Conan literary library and develop works across TV and film, both live-action and animated.

The move would fit into Netflix’s strategy of acquiring globally recognizable IP to build an universe of films and TV series, including Roald Dahl’s novels, The Chronicles of Narnia books and comics publisher Millarworld.

A search is currently underway for a writer/showrunner to pen the Conan adaptation and director to helm the project. Malmberg and Wheeler will serve as executive producers on the potential series through their Pathfinder Media.

Jack Reacher Casts Titans' Alan Ritchson in Title Role
Alan Ritchson
Alan Ritchson has lined up his next TV role, and it's a big one.

He's landed the title role on Amazon's Jack Reacher.

Ritchson is currently starring on DC Universe drama series Titans in the role of Hank Hall, aka Hawk.

He recurred on Titans Season 1, but was promoted to series regular for Titans Season 2, and is expected to appear on the forthcoming Titans Season 3.

There's no word yet on whether his role will be scaled back on the superhero drama's third season due to his new role.

Ritchson is also well-known for his one season run on Blood Drive, as well as playing superhero Arthur Curry, aka Aquaman on The CW's Smallville.

Jack Reacher nabbed a series order at the streamer earlier this year at Amazon's turn at the Television Critics Association.

Based on Lee Child's novels, the freshman season will follow The Killing Floor, the first Jack Reacher novel.

Amazon’s high-profile new drama series “Hunters” premiered on Friday, February 21. It’s the first regular series role for Al Pacino. The Oscar-winning actor has Emmys for the limited series “Angels in America” and the telefilm “You Don’t Know Jack.” Could he be on his way to a third win for his role as a vigilante tracking down and exacting revenge against Nazis?

Set in the 1970s, the series stars Pacino plays Meyer Offerman, a wealthy Jewish man who assembles a ragtag group to investigate and execute Nazis living secretly in the Us and plotting to bring about the Fourth Reich. The actor’s performance has a “confident wisdom” and “impish cleverness.” He keeps it at a “low rumble,” which makes his “rare outbursts more powerful.” He provides “a balanced through-line” that grounds the sensationalist story.

The Decade's Best Action/Adventure Series
A decade is a long time in television, and we're gathering the best programming across a bunch of fun categories.

We're starting with the best action/adventure series.

Did your favorite make the list?

Game of Thrones - HBO (2011-2019)

Let’s get it out of the way. Games of Thrones had a rocky ending. That doesn’t take away from the seven incredible seasons that came before it, though. Game of Thrones is one of the defining shows of the decade.

Having such a large ensemble cast is no easy task, but Game of Thrones managed to get us invested in each player in the war for the Iron Throne. The show had something for everyone: action, adventure, romance, and dragons.

Van Helsing Season 4 Episode 10

“I can’t believe we’re negotiating with a moron in the goddamn apocalypse.”

After last week’s solo mission into Jack’s past, “Together Forever” gets the larger Van Helsing narrative arc back on track and introduces an element that up to now has remained in the shadows. The government is watching, and while it’s not yet evident how much it knows about Blak Tek and its experiments, the revelation that it’s out there and paying attention adds another intriguing layer to the chaos taking place in the Western United States. And even though Vanessa’s still trapped in an alternate world with the Dark One, her daughters more than make up for her absence.
