His intense vulnerability and impending danger act as the hook that attaches itself to your heart strings and drags you deeper into the story. The tension builds with the steady, relentless, unopposed force of gravity as the weight of the crisis grows larger and more consuming with every scene. As you fall deeper and deeper through the dark and twisted plot my only word of advice is 'Don't forget to breathe'. The momentum of emotion and terror build to a climax with such power and ferocity it almost smashes right through the screen. I had to check the seat next to me for a spattering of blood!
