In the recent decade, the Scandinavian countries (Denmark and Sweden in particular) have launched so many good drama thrillers that is difficult to follow up, partially also due to the fact that the number of performers involved is limited and you begin to wonder have you seen this or that or not... Also in Gåsmamman, there are several actors often seen in related films/series, e.g. Alexandra Rapaport, Magnus Roosmann, or Shebly Niavarani, but its venue is somewhat distinct from other Swedish series - the events take place in a limited time and locations, the flashbacks are in the beginning of the following episode only, thus bringing back the highlights what happened before. In spite of lots of drug-related felonies and problems, a lot of time is dedicated to family ties, with minor children playing a significant role. The latter is probably the reason why the main solution is no inevitable crime result, but a more complex issue when difficult choices are to be made by and within close relatives and kinsmen. So, the cast does a good teamwork, the leading character/performance does not stand out too much.
In general, a strong crime series, but not among the Swedish finest, no Bron/Broen, for example. The plot could have been a bit more compact (perhaps 5 series), some events and scenes are protracted: 7.5 points for plot, 8.5 for performances.

A Good Swedish Tv-show, something new has finally come to the square. Gåsmamman is a quality made show that is exciting to watch, good actors aswell. Barry is great!
So the original is Dutch (like me) but done better. Better acting, better scenes and better developed story. Really like all the actors in this show. It's just really hard to find on streamers. Seen season 1-4 on Disney and after that it became a quest to find the next one. Season 5 was on Viaplay and season 6 now on Canal+ I think.
Allthough seasons 3,4 felt bit like repeating story and action, I'm still curious for the next part. Official statement says that season 6 was the last one, but just saw a TikTok with the Gasmamman kids explaining they are shooting the new season. Confusing but exciting...

The casting was good. The swede's delivered all over pretty good. Rapaport is excellent as always!
The casting of the kids could have been better! Nina was great though.
"Gåsmamman," a gripping Swedish thriller series, follows the story of Sonja, a mother who finds herself navigating the dangerous underworld after her criminal husband is killed. The show excels in character development, portraying Sonja's transformation from a sheltered woman to a fierce protector of her family. The writing is sharp, filled with unexpected twists that keep viewers on the edge of their seats. The performances, especially by lead actress Alexandra Rapaport, are powerful and nuanced. The cinematography beautifully captures the tension and emotional depth of the story. While it delves into dark themes, it also highlights resilience and the complexities of motherhood, making it a must-watch for thriller enthusiasts.

Simple, complex, exciting and moving; all of it this series. Wish for a fifth season, and for many people to give it a go. Brilliant!!
