This show defies that you have to go over the top to entertain and gives the audience real situations that every kid faces at some time or another. The show is incredibly well written with jokes that don't hit you over the head but allow you to get the punchline on your own. The direction is natural and real just like our own kids. Adding Henry Rollins of Black Flag, Bethany Consentino of Best Coast, Dan Reynolds of Imagine Dragons, James Iha of Smashing Pumpkins and A Perfect Circle and Hutch Hutchins from The Thermals to the cast adds to the music credibility of these talented young musicians. This show is a real gem. It not only will appeal to the kids but give parents something to watch with their children.
A History of Radness has done what I thought would no longer be done with children's television. I have seen so many shows on TV these days geared towards kids that honestly make no sense to me. The shows I grew up with had a purpose, a hidden meaning, lying around in the show. Watching it as a kid, you don't catch it right off. Watching it as you get older, like I did, you find these meanings right off. This show incorporates many things that I have found I enjoy seeing in shows for kids. You have an unlikely group of kids that just don't match in personalities coming together to do something that, in one way or another, they enjoy: making music. In my eyes, that is something that is great. I am happy to say that this is definitely a show that, if it is given the green light, and I hope it is, I will be buying and watching with my nieces.
A History of Radness is one of those shows that has the potential to inspire and encourage kids to chase their dream no matter what challenges they may face. It is a show about friendship, about teamwork and most importantly, about not judging people by appearance alone. There are so many kids today that are afraid to just be" their authentic self and they try to change who they are to "fit in" and feel accepted. This show is about embracing who we are and sharing our natural gifts. Thank you AMAZON for airing a show like this and if this pilot gets picked up, it's sure to be a WINNER...These kids are all amazingly talented and my kids and I can't wait to learn more about how the plot develops week after week.... You have die hard fans in this household :)
One week ago, this show had a 9.6 rating on IMDb. It had been that high for weeks. Why? So many reasons but mainly because the show is excellent in every phase, Writing, Directing, Acting, Editing, Music. The list goes on.
As of today, the show is at 7.9 and sinking fast. Why this time? It seems because of Amazon's pilot system friends and family of a potentially competing Amazon pilot have spent their last week trying to sabotage this show to trick Amazon Execs into picking their show instead.
Here's the problem with that logic... That other show simply isn't very good. Here's another problem with that plan. Amazon has proved over the last few years to be smarter than your time wasting ploy to cheat the system. You think they haven't noticed a quick and drastic drop in the IMDb rating the very week they're making their decision? You think they're going to reward you for that by putting their money and reputation on the line by picking up your boring show?
Good luck with that.

Get ready to be completely charmed by this amazing show. The writing and direction paired with these amazing young actors is the perfect combination. And the music... I can't get over the fact that the kids are such outstanding musicians -- they play with the hearts and souls of much older performers. This show is legit. I feel like most networks/studios would handle a show about kids starting a garage band in a broad, high gloss manner. There's none of that here. There's not a manufactured or false moment in the entire show (kudos, Amazon). No spoilers here, but there is an adorable cameo that will warm the hearts of many a music fan. It makes me wonder what other rock legend cameos Radness has in their back pocket. I can't recommend this show more highly. 10+
