The BBC have just shown this in the UK, and I'm so glad they did. It is right up there with The Office, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Detectorists, Peep Show and This Country.
The writing is exceptional, but it works so well because of the actors. Their timing, delivery and expressions are perfect. These people are real. You care about them, and that's what makes great comedy work. Can we have some more series, please?

I came to this after watching the pilot of the American remake, which was pretty bad. But I still liked the premise of people on the dull periphery of an exciting event, so I checked out the original.
Unlike the American version, this one is quite funny. There's a scene of a woman talking about her son and porn that is utterly hilarious.
At the same time, this series is basically two-person, conversation-driven sketch comedy. Two people sit in a car and do shtick. Two people sit in a room and do shtick. Etc. It's good for that, and the first episode has a startling plot turn right at the end, but I just wanted something beyond people sitting and riffing.
I can absolutely see why some people would love this, and certainly recommend checking it out. But with all the good sitcoms out in the world I won't continue with this one.

I ran, after watching the first 2 episodes.
With the exception of April (played by Harriet Dyer), I found the characters irritating rather than amusing. Rather than take the Brooklyn Nine-Nine route (incompetence within a relatively realistic milieu), they've chosen the route of supremely farcical incompetence and have failed to make this funny.
Look at what happened at the end of episode 1 (no spoilers here) and how this is effectively forgotten by the beginning of episode 2. How does that make any sort of sense, unless this is a farce? In which case, it needs to be a good farce. This is just a bad farce about a bad force. Watch Brooklyn Nine-Nine instead.

Two blokes sitting in a car. 13 episodes.. just plain fantastic! It comedy at it's finest
Very funny. Lots of jokes and comments in the show that shows the writers have either done the job, or sought advice and stories from those that have.
