    Worth watching!

Mom and I decided to watch a random movie when we couldn't find anything on TV. I had picked out a few and we gave this one a try. My expectations were somewhat low, and even though I thought I'd figured out the plot early on, it held my attention the whole way through. It was so much better than I was expecting. I thought the acting was great. I liked it enough that I will probably watch it again at some point.

    a bad Lifetime movie

I enjoy Lifetime movies even though they are typically B movies, but this one was on the lower end of the Lifetime rating scale. The acting was really bad. There was NO character development. The story was completely predictable, and there were tons of plot holes. Also, the film was super low budget. For example, about 7 minutes into the film you can see the boom mics bouncing above the actor's heads. The plot is about a young woman who was found wandering in a snowy forest at 8 years old. After growing up an orphan, now 15 years later they may have found her family. There is so much about this story that doesn't make any sense. They never explain why the mother comes looking for her now, so many years later, or how she finally did find her daughter. The girl, Jane, chooses not to wait for DNA results or take her social worker's advice. Jane also doesn't even ask her mother what happened or why they took so long to find her. In My Humble Opinion, Skip this one! This is not a Lifetime movie I would recommend, even to the average Lifetime enthusiast. 8/2007

A promising thriller undermined by lifetime's usual flaws

This thriller shows some promise but ends up being 'almost satisfactory,' hampered by the typical forced quirks of Lifetime, which seems institutionally committed to ruining its productions. In fact, I only realized it was a TV movie when I quickly associated it with Lifetime! Although the visuals and landscapes are appealing, and the gothic mansion stands out, the story proves to be predictable, focused on just a few characters, and fizzles out as the film progresses. Despite these flaws, the performances are good, especially that of the charming Eastwood, daughter of veteran Clint. The plot maintains minimal coherence, as long as you pay careful attention to all the headlines of the articles the characters browse on the internet. This somewhat elevates the experience, although it still can't escape the limitations of a shallow storyline and a mediocre execution.

    Great movie

I absolutely loved this movie, the main character, and I love big old houses in movies too. I wish the roommate would of been in more scenes but I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed this one.

    Typical Lifetime

I enjoy Lifetime Movies, even though the majority are only worth 5 or 6 stars. It catches your attention and if you like teen drama movies, and have some time on your hands, this would be an acceptable movie to waste your time on. The movie starts off slow and confusing. The ending feels rushed. The middle covers a lot of the pieces to the puzzle but not all.

Overall, 5 stars. The actors weren't very in depth, making the movie feel a lot more bland than it could have been. Still a partially enjoyable movie. Don't assume it's horrible, because it's not, it's just slow and bland.

    • Trivia
Filmed in part at the Glensheen historic estate on the shore of Lake Superior in Duluth, MN, the former home of the Congdon family. This location was used once before as a film set in 1972 for another movie thriller, Vous aimerez ma mère (1972), starring Patty Duke and Richard Thomas. The estate has its own dark real life history, and is open to the public for tours.
    • Goofs
Around the 56-minute mark, while Savannah is searching for news about her family on her laptop, a news article mistakenly refers to her as 'Samantha' instead of her actual name, 'Savannah.' This inconsistency is noticeable as the character's correct name is used throughout the rest of the film.
    • Quotes

Jane Smith: There's something off about this place.

      Finch: What do you mean?

Jane Smith: Well, for starters, my father apparently killed himself in the house. And there's something else...

      Finch: Okay.

Jane Smith: You're going to think I'm nuts, but I've been seeing things.

Finch: Seeing things? Seeing... seeing what?

Jane Smith: A little girl. I feel like I know her.
