Dingo Pictures may have done worse, but this is still an extremely lame way to spend 25 minutes

It is easy to see why the animations of Dingo Pictures are relatively obscure, though those who have had the misfortune of seeing any of their output (which along with their equally low-budget computer animated counterpart Video Brinquedo have not once made anything worthwhile) but cannot forget their awfulness.

'The Musicians of Bremen' is not one of their worst ('Animal Soccer World' for example is notorious to anybody familiar with Dingo Pictures), it doesn't quite insult the intelligence like a lot of their other efforts and is not as derivative. However it has enough of their trademarks to make it incredibly lame.

Where to start? As this reviewer usually talks about the animation when talking about animation, of which I have been a lifelong fan of, that's where the review will start. The animation is atrocious, even for low-budget animation, the flat colours, very simplistic backgrounds and lack of detail and derivative character animation as well as a style that makes art of primary school children who draw and paint in half an hour or less seem more accomplished.

Music is inappropriately ominous and heavy in dissonance, always sounding misplaced and never fitting with what's going on, not to mention that it very rarely stops. The script is incredibly repetitive and juvenile, that it will insult any adult is bad enough but even young children will feel dumber after hearing some of the dialogue here. The story is not as derivative as some of their other stuff, but feels stretched even for 25 minutes and is very disjointed and goes nowhere a lot of the time.

Characters are irritating, not a likable or interesting character among them, while the sound effects are bizarre and randomly placed and the voice acting is amateurish even by low-budget animation standards, often being annoying and incomprehensible and even ill-fitting.

To sum up, an extremely lame way to spend 25 minutes, though there are worse from Dingo Pictures. 1/10 (a rating this reviewer gives out, the last one was for 'Norm of the North' and that was about a month ago). Bethany Cox
