I went to watch the movie after hearing that its a good comedy although the story is not that great but after hearing the jokes, you wont care about the story. I reluctantly took the risk and boy it was a terrible choice. The movie was wrapped in terrible promotion of the sponsors. Some scenes are terribly fit in context and the item number of Ayesha Omer was forced into the situation. The movie is a 36 hour journey of 5 people, 3 of them friends and Shahzad's neighbor Ayesha and her brother, who take the journey to patch up Zaheem's (Shahzad) girlfriend who is marrying a cousin in Lahore. There are many major loopholes and the most glaring one is the road on which they travel, its the Mehran Coastal highway instead of the N5. At least they should have gotten that right although i understand the point of capturing natural beauty. The only talking point of the movie was Moti and his jokes which somehow saved the movie. Some of the jokes were actually good and did crack one up. Other than that, everyone's acting was below par. I hope the director/producer learn that the limit should not be crossed while appeasing your sponsors. Verdict: If you really don't care about the story and have enough money that you don't care for losing 500 to hear a few jokes, go for it otherwise you know what i mean.
Being Pakistani, I should have to prefer Pakistani Movies at first... But after watching the movie Karachi Se Lahore, the frequent below-the-belt humor made it the best movie only for a specific class and not the audience with families liking the genuine comedy and humor which should have been the symbol of a typical Pakistani movie. Other way round, this movie was a good effort on a lighter note and had there been no such one-liner jokes, I would have given it 8 out of 10... as all of clean punches were superb, situational comedy along with soft romance was at its best... role of Javed Sheikh with Khushi was very amusing, although it needed some more focus (like Aysha Omer or that Travelling Group could have known about the existence of Khushi)... However, if we compare it with Maalamal Weekly, Hera Pheri, Ye Tera Ghar Ye Mera Ghar, Dhol, Hangama (Indian Movies), all have clean comedies. And yet I am not asking the Pakistani Directors to Copy- Paste an Indian Movie but producing a Clean-Comedy Movie... Rest Songs were great, Picturisation was great, Direction was great and acting was also great including Rashid Hussain (except his few sentences)....
Karachi Se Lahore is the next Lollywood movie released after the blockbuster "bol". Unfortunantely this movie does not live up to the mark and is just a time pass movie.
Plot: Zaheem is a worker at a bank. He has two friends Moti and Sam who are always into partying and want Zaheem to get into this lifestyle but he is always under pressure from his spoiled girlfriend Ayeasha who always nags him for his average lifestyle as she wants a higher reputation man. One day Ayeasha leaves Zaheem for a another man, when Zaheem finds out he is devastated and decides to stop the wedding. Since the air travel is not available, Zaheem persuades his neighbor Maryam and her brother Zeezo to lend him their jeep for to get to Lahore. All five friends go on a road trip from Karachi to Lahore.
Music: The music was overall good. The song "tutti fruity" gets stuck in your head, especially the tune. "Aaja re Aaja" is another catchy song. The rest of the songs were good too.
Flaws: The story was okay, also there was no real comedy in this movie. Moti's punch lines were the only thing that kept this movie going.
Acting: One thing I really liked about this movie was the acting. Every single per son did a really good job. Shehzad Sheikh makes a confident débutant. He has something of his father in him. he was perfect as Zaheem. THere may be some places where he has overacted but he still was good. Ayeasha Omar is flawless. The stages her character had to go through, from tough to sweet to angry to fun. She portrayed all these different phases without a single flaw in her acting. But the star of the movie was Yasir Hussain, he was absolutely outstanding. The movie was completely carried on his shoulders. It was because of this that this movie was watchable. Ahmed Ali was good, even though he overacted at some places he was still good to watch on screen.. Aashir Wajahat was very good he was better than Ahmed Ali and Shehzad Sheikh. His expressions, tone, language also contributed to the film. Eshita Syed is most effective. Javed Sheikh is good in his small role.
Overall this is a time pass movie which is only enjoyable at some points because of the outstanding performance of Yasir Hussain

"Karachi Se Lahore", a laughter roller coaster.
Movie grips you from start, and takes you into extreme level of comedy. The actors in movie did full justice with their characters, Ayesha Omar (Mariam), Javed Shiekh (Tiwana), Shehzad Shiekh (Zaheem), Ashir Wajahat (Zeezo). But the corner stone / lime light of the movie was "Moti" (Yasir Hussain), he takes movie to next level, he is also co-writer. And at last "Wajahat Rauf" (The Debut Director) do full justice with his movie by his skills.
I'll rate main ingredients of movie as cast (9), acting (9), timing of punch lines (10), songs (8), cinematography (8), editing (9), direction (9), script (10). So each department try to put his 100% and succeeded as well. So overall I give 9/10.
Go Watch it for "Moti" and for "Pakistan". Its worth for your money.

I consider myself to be an all-round modest guy. I certainly don't pretend to be something i'm not. However, seeing this 137 min flick, i am fairly certain i would've done a better job at directing while still making enough time for afternoon chai back at home. The film takes us on a rather loop-holed journey into the life of a young salary-man and his posse of two- dimensional friends who, despite our central character's consistent verbal insults and slurs, manage to brush everything off for a 36 hour road trip to crash his 'evil' ex's wedding. I use apostrophes because the only thing resembling something bad she did was prolong their inevitable breakup. Joining in is a girl-next-door who goes through the biggest and fastest personality u-turn (like..literally 15 hours) in the film..and not even in a good way. From a fiercely independent young women to a urban-hipster wannabee ready to put on her ghaghra and dance the night away. I feel a bit silly writing such a serious review for such a light-hearted attempt , which brings me to the headline: While i did go into the movie with reasonably high expectations, it soon became apparent that they were for naught and by the 15th minute i started to view it as a prolonged infomercial courtesy of Hbl and Cornetto (a courtesy that i was reminded of every 10 minutes or so). And to my surprise, i actually caught myself enjoying a few (emphasis on few) punchlines. Moti, the only character worth mentioning, and a few well-timed songs are two sole things standing in between this film and a 1-star review...at least in my humble opinion. Long story short 'best to lower your expectations going in'. Maybe even think of it as an over-budget amateur film instead of a short-budget mainstream one. Might save you the second-hand embarrassment.
